why it should be MANDATORY to sign up for the forum to play on the server

We are not making this a private club. You just can't say, "You can't join because you haven't signed up."

The FLCE guys are like that. There are only twenty people on the server at max. Most are Covenant.

You can, of course, try it on another server. If you think your idea would be appealing to a larger group of people. There's some drawbacks, yes. But you won't teach new tricks to the old discovery:).
