Escorts are not useless for transports, but for larger capitals, they still are to a lesser degree. Now instead of needing 10 fighters to get 2-3 bombers away from your battleship, you only need 3-4.
I like the mining thing. It is a BIT unbalanced, but it encourages teamplay.
Actually, if you think complaining without solutions that puts you in the same bag with the starting inexperienced players by my book. Sorry but for someone with so many posts, I'ld expect at least third to be useful at handing out some skills, so far, all the posts I've read from you were usually snide comments that produced nothing useful in the discussion.
besides, pointing out a problem and complaining isn't a same thing. you know it.
I mean, it's not even an argument against my thoughts, that would indicate you disagree. No it's just a snide comment made because our rp views clash.
I really envy your free time you're spending here. You must have alot of it if you can play actively over.. let's say, 5 different characters. And I don't mean different as DSE miner / DSE escort / DSE trader being 3, but with 5 different factions / mindsets.
I'm not against variety, but my opinion is that you can contribute more if you pick few roles and stick with them. Until you find one, feel free to explore. This game is sandbox game people. You're given a world, and from there you can change it. Do not expect admins to change it constantly when you can do so as well.
Well, that is your bag after all. I sure hope people do not stop complaining about issues when they see something is wrong simply because some player made a rant thread on the forum about it. Yes, complaining and pointing out a problem can be two different things. Your rant is generic and puts both in the same bag. It is an argument against the logic of your thoughts.
Snide comments? Like, say, a whine against people whining?
Your opinion is that. Do not let your opinion restrict those who can play multiple roles with ease.

I like the bit 'overpowered' profits that mining makes. it makes starting up for new players so much easier. get a Maffic, slap on some mining lasers and get busy. better than running around in a Rhino hauling 200 scrap metal.
besides, the stakes are nice and high with a full load of ore. if you get blown up with a hold full of mining machinery or something it's really 'meh' like. but with ore, the thrill is all the better when a pirate comes into play. thus, it encourages teamplay indeed. (meaning: get escorts)

Seems like you do not have a pirate char, and are just angry that they stop your awsome porfitable trade route. And oh my god, if they gonna ask 5 000 000 and justify it in rp. God no I rather die than pay !
Well why I support Ivans idea, its becouse, it will give more intresting interactions for pirates themselves. Perhaps, yes, escorts aren't such effective, but god damn, stop be so egoist, chasing 300 000 000 to by new order light carrier, give a nic share to escorts, and givesome of it to pirates if escorts failed to help you. Be gernours to others. Others might be genrous to you next time.
