Well I hope you never get sanctioned for making outrageous demands.
I will always try and run but if you get me with the cruise disruptor then by all means hit me up.
One thing that irks me is the pirates that once you try and run they decide that you have had your chance and may be destroyed now.
I understand the point of view that this is how a real pirate might do thing but to me it just seems that they dont want to do any work.
Just sit there at a Jumpgate and collect taxes off traders while ignoring NPCs and counting their money.
There is no immersion for them doing this, and I am expected to behave out of character and say"look there is a pirate 5 k away, lets cut our engines and let them come to us".
If I run you have to expect that, hell you might kill me anyway, but I think you should enjoy the chase and enjoy the profit when you catch me.
Not try some punishment so you hopefully wont have to hunt next time, get off you lazy butts and enjoy being a pirate.
Not pointing this to anyone in this thread personally, just seems to happen quite a lot lately.

"Noooo", said the spider,"I am supposed to run after my prey? No way! That pretty firefly has to be instantly unable to move upon my sight and shall entertain me with nice talk while I eat it!"
Besides, cruising away is a bunch of rubbish. Don't you have a CD? I only do a single cruise-attempt usually, after this I run on thrusters only, because an able pirate will come closer and closer when you try to cruise multiple times. If you want to start your cruise engines, wait until the pirate starts his own to catch up to you. He can't fire a CD and start his cruise engines at the same time, can't he?

I always make pretty reasonable requests, I think.
Today, I was trying to pirate two miners in the silver field in my Werewolf. I asked for 1 million each, a reasonable amount when you consider how much they make.
They made no response, so after a little bit, I raise the amount. 2 million. Waiting makes me nervous.
Finally, one says that he'll pay the two million. I say, good, fantastic, but your friend owes 3 million now, since he hasn't said anything this whole time.
I am very nervous. We have been sitting here too long. My spider senses are telling me that they are summoning help, but I figure that I'll RP it out, see what happens.
They summoned a BH gunboat, lawl at me, and then run away as I fight the gunboat. Whatever, fine, I don't do this for the credits really. I'll put up a show, I figure I'll fight the gunboat, and then eventually run away.
End of the story? It ends up being 4 vs me. I would have survived, but the gunboat lolkilled me in the middle of RP in the NFZ of Bethlehem.
Next time any miner doesn't respond right away, I'm opening fire until they do. Lesson learned.
edit: Really, is 1 million too much?!
Thanks to MikeyH for the banner.

Yes it is, set your cruise disruptor as one of your weapon groups, and ready it before you start talking. Then all you need to do is right-click to CD.
