Interesting. I have always thought that, while the ships in freelancer have a lot of, history, put into them, they need to be updated.

The Hephestus is indeed an interesting concept, because its sleek. The majority of Freelancer ships are big and fat, and one wonders how anyone could miss them.

Now as for faction, why not give it to the Order? Yeah yeah i know, too many order, we want invite only blah blah blah. But it looks more like a stealth carrier, or a Blockade runner. And the order, while they like to pretend that they live in the shadow, are nothing but a bunch of trigger happy, paranoid, nomad sucking guns for hire. And I can say that, because I have an order character, and as im less then impressed.

You could also give it to the peace loving zoners....as for what they would use it for, I have no idea, maybe a nice floating flower garden.

I would be interested to see what this ship would look like, with hardmounted BS cerb turrets on it, because of its sleek design, i would think the turrets would sit on it like an IMG hydra.

But your the designer, It looks good, keep going, and despite what everyone else says, Its your baby, so do what you want to it. Too often do the designers give in to peer pressure, and give up, because someone disagrees.

Some one will always complain about something....

Anyway, My drunken rant is over. Keep us updated!

The reports of my trying to imitate the revered Michal Golanski are greatly exaggerated...my avatar should prove this.

Yeah, I learnt long ago that, no matter what you do someone will hate you for it. I do listen to the advice, and I do follow most of it.

I'm leaving the docking port in, though. Sorry, Bass.

OK, I've decided that I've finished the model for the ship:

Next step is texturing it, and to be honest I have less than no idea when it comes to that. At least the modelling phase involved "draw box, move vertices, repeat until done"

If someone wants to help with this, please feel free to ask for the model file so I can give it to you. Full credit will be given, and if I do auction off the Hephestus you will receive half the proceeds.

Listen I hate to be a jerk here, but the more you wish to sell this model the less I like it.
You can't just jump on do one model, have no idea what it takes to put a full model in game and want to sell it to the highest bidder. If someone has a contest and wants you to design a ship for them for so many credits fine, if they request it thats up to them, but just modeling to try and make money is wrong. You should model for the community. I really don't know how to put it any nicer than that. At this point it would take a lot to get that model in game, a lot of updates, and a lot of changes. Then you need to texture it, hard point it, make a hit box. You should keep modeling keep posting the ships you model and asking for advice, and learning what it takes to put the entire model in game. But just trying to model to pawn it off for credits, that takes away from the community spirit. What if all the superb modelers here started to do that, Frozenballs, Jinx, and the ones I haven't seen on the forums. (Sorry if the names are not spelled right)

Yeah, that's a good point. I won't auction it off then, but I will put it up for any factions whom want to use it.

My final sentiment: Keep tweaking with it, add more and more detail, round things out, leave much less flat space and a lot more angles and density.

Looks good though.
