Quote:Salvager Info:

Built to harvest larger amounts of riches from the debris fields of Sirius with a dizzying array of tool arms, generous cargobay and powerful tug capable engines results in an unmatched ability to salvage even the largest parts from space while at the same time protecting them from anyone that might oppose them.

The hallmark of the most successful clans within the greater Junker community, the Salvage Frigate class, while built upon the same basic core philosophy, grows to be as varied as the families that crew them with each passing generation. As such the vessel is never seen outside of the hands of Junkers, as the ship is by no means sold, so much as it is almost grown through years of combing and love of their crews

It's bold and underline - yes.

Ok, since it is said that "harvest larger amounts of riches from the debris fields...." - why don't the Junkers have atleast a capship - Gunship atleast made out o scraps from the debris.

However, most people comments will be "it will be abused" or "no, we don't want a cap". Ohh please - it's time to get some of the info's out there to be in used. They are just sitting their collecting dust while no one is recognizing of what the ships background usage is about. Another thing that will pop up is the few players will or might say "noobs are flying Caps or lolwutt" - ignore them. You have a ship? - look at it's info; read what it says, what it is made for? what it's purpose in space if you are in command of it? Do you have the rightful crew that can rhyme with the ships info?

Most of the time these are my questions before I buy a Gunship or bigger - If i don't have a clue as to figure out what to do with the ship in the future, I simply ignore it.

So, can we make this info from the salvager 'useful'?

NOTE: No flames please. Positive comments would be grateful.

Thank you!

-Luis

I agree fully. Junkers need a cap. I say something with alot of armour, but sluggish handling. A good power core, but not a great number of guns. Similar to our fighter craft. They have armour/power,but lack guns/handling. The junker way.

I've been supporting the idea of a Junker gunboat for ages. I think a thread was started by a .:j:. member offering a prize in credits for a Junker gunboat model a while back. Maybe you could enter the contest, Luis? Your models are awesome:P

Give me a good reason why junkers shoud start walk the path of militarism?

Big guns attracts even bigger guns. I doubt junkers need that, neither want it.

Gunboats are hardly heavy military hardware. We need guns to defend ourselves. We have Xenos knocking on our doors in Liberty, Hogosha ( who have access to gunboats, by the way) pouring into Bretonia from Leeds and a need to maintain peace in our stations.

We have more of a need to get big ships than the Zoners yet they have 2 Battleships, 2 Cruisers and 1 gunboat. Whot?

While a capship would be nice, there's no need for it. We only have three true enemies - Hogosha (limited to fighters/bombers for the most part), Xenos (limited to fighters/bombers/freighters), and wilde (They do have a gunboat, but it's rarely used and it's even more rare that we actually fight them rather than just run away).

You design and build ships based on what your enemies are capable of. Right now, the combat between the xenos/hogosha and junkers tends to be all fighter/bomber combat, nothing more. We have a fighter (two, in fact), we have a bomber (more like an SHF with a nova, but you get the point), we dont really need a gunboat or a cruiser.

Our salvager is somewhat capable of serving in a psuedo-gunboat capacity for the defense of junker bases, when it needs to, but beyond that it's more designed as a well defended transport with an emphasis on salvaging/scrap mining.

When the xenos and hogosha start running around in gunboats, perhaps then we'll design one of our own, but right now it'd be wasted resources and, yes, it would be abused by those players who want to use the junker ID as a free pass to attack anyone or pirate anywhere.

What Junkers really need is a transport that's bigger than the CSF but less costly than the Salvager. Given that Junker lines and the vanilla transport lines were technically the same line (as CSVs were civilian ships, used much like the Mafia uses generic cars nowadays, subtlety) it shouldn't be hard to devise what it should look like..

I would also agree a Junker gunboat is needed.
They're not always "combat" ships, they make very effective escorts.

The Junkers are really not as combat focused....at best combat for them is more cloak and dagger rather than brining big guns in...

and our enemies do not really have the reach or power to come and get us regularly and cause a problem...except the Wilde but they are more interested in the other factions.

Besides, making a warship out of scrap is rather...silly sounding, outside just a salvaged ship I mean.

and even so, all Junker ships are hybrids so far...like the Collector (fighter/freighter/repairship) which fills more than one role. Junkers multitask really. So far we have all the ships we need really. If we expanded into capital ships, it would either be part transport or part repairship, and even so, it would be ballanced stat wise against other ships of a simmilar class.

Junkers could probably use a liner... maybe one with light cruiser weaponry (enough power to shoot primaries, but not razors or mortars). Something unique... a full cruiser wouldn't fit, but a liner, I think would.

It'd be keeping in the tradition of the weirdness of the Salvager.

Agreed, I would much rather see another kind of transport or freighter for the Junkers. Either a big hauler or a smaller sort of blockade runner thing... 2K cargo and maybe 2 or 3 gunboat guns or something.

That idea of a liner is really interesting...could turn it into a mobile smelter or something.
