Hey there, I'm currently browsing for these new parts and I plan on using my setup with Windows 7 Ultimate
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX
Preferred RAM: at least 4GB
Powersupply: At least 450W
If you can help, that'd be greatly appreciated. My budget is at $600 max, and that means I'd rather keep it no more than $520-ish
I want to be able to run Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for PC with all graphics as high as possible and have no lag at all. I want it to run like a charm.
Playing battlefield bad company 2 on everything max won't happen with a 8800gtx... maybe on low/medium... Your dealing with a 3-4 year old card that games like battlefield bad company 2 were not around.. the power of the graphics card simply can't keep up. For good performance your looking on spending at least $200+ on a video card.... Which would require a bigger power supply than 450W. might i suggest EVGA gtx260 core 216.. Its 197 dollars on newegg.com. For ram i would need to see what your motherboard is.. DDR2/3 voltages FSB Etc... and for Power Supply.. i would suggest Antec, or Corsair. Antec is medium quality for cheap.. corsair's quality is better for a bit more cash. I need more information before i can suggest/assist you further

It is quite possible actually... Video Cards aren't designed for current things, but things to come as well you know. I know it's an older card but is still very good compared to other ones, and I'm not going to replace it.

Ok....
In order to help, we need information on what sort of system you currently have, then we can start giving advice.
We need to know what sort of motherboard you have, both who made it and it's number, that way we can find out what sort of RAM it will support and what type ( PCI-e etc) of video card it can handle.
As an example, my motherboard is an Asus P55A-UD4. If you punch that into GOOOOGLE, you come up with all kinds of information.
Just for a start, you have $520 to play with.
Power supplies vary in quality from brand to brand, as RockStar has said, go with an Antec or a Corsair.
Try to get one with at least 500 watts. There are some PSU's that come with 'modular' cabling, but they are more expensive.
RAM should be easy to pick up.....as soon as you find out what sort your motherboard will support.
Oddly the latest type of RAM can be relatively cheap to pick up, while older types can be terribly costly due to the increasingly limited availability of it.
8800GTX is still capable card.
But its hard to find cheap (Well wher eI am I dunno about else where).
HD4850 or GTS 250. Newer and better then 8800GTX and is fairly cheaper. Got my 4850 for 90 bucks and I love it. Can max out anything I play and should run BFBC2 like a charm. Lots of videos of it running BFBC2 at 30+ max detail online.
Computer under 600?
If you already have one Size of Monitor (Resolution) or how big you want to go upto?
Lots of set ups for 600 bucks.
Made this set up in about 10 minutes.
GIGABYTE GA-MA78LM-S2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 760G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Processor Model HDZ940XCGIBOX
190 on Newegg for Both in Combo
129 (20 Additional off Rebate) Roughly for 4GB DDR-1066 OCZ HPC Memory

Sapphire HD5770 Juniper XT 1GB GDDR5 182.99
98.00 Left
Corsair 650TX 650W Power Suppply
99.99+Additional 20 Back in Mail
Total: Roughly 602ish add tax and shipping
A bit over but substitute the HD5770 with the HD4850 lowest price 99.99 range.
Leaves you around 520. Add another 10 bucks and you can upgrade to a bigger ATX motherboard combo and with Crossfire to add another HD4850 down the road. 650W would be a good amount of power to power it. (550W for 2 is Recommended on Box).
But with 5770 card and cheaper but capable and good PSU from OCZ you dont need more then 550 W anyway for single card.I would rather buy one single card with better performance instead 2 in crossfire. Reasons: Single PCIe x16 boards are cheaper, and if you put 2 cards on crossfire you dont get 200% from the performance but around 140%- if each of them can offer 100%. I would not go for corsair PSU because in my experience they are not so good for their price. If you will go for expensive PSU then Tagan or Zalman.
