Would it be possible to make the religious faction seprit from NPC factions like the mercenary factions? I guess that runs into a home base... well, what about the Neutral bases in Connecticut, the Green, Red, Blue, Orange and New Haven Stations. Could have some religious elements right into the naming of all 5 of those (if you make it some space aged/70s acid trip like religion). Let me run with this colour thing...
-The colours could represent different casts of the "perfect" society (Warriors, Clergy, Farmers/labourers, and Government) With New Haven being the symbol of union and equality (or repression depending on what direction the religion is going) for the casts.

-The colours could represent the four Nations (Bule: Liberty, Green: Rhinelands, Red: Kusari, Orange: Bretonia) and each of those bases could be the "base of operation" on how they plan to spread "The Great Belief" to that nation, and New Haven being the center of power for "the great belief".
As for the religion itself, you'll probably want something based off esoteric knowledge, that is mystic beliefs. Probably also want to the a lot of this knowledge secret, and only the higher ups know the whole story, and the people who aren't even part of the "great belief" have no concept of what's really going on. This way you have a very structured power centered around the clergy as well as a built in hatred for those outside of the religion (as their Ignorance shall surly be their death), and it allows the guild higher ups to also come up with concepts and ideas along the way.
You'll want to think how structured the followers are though, are they just a rag tag bunch of converts, or is there a regimented and strict idea on what the devotees can look like (uniforms and ships) and what they can use (equipment).
Other ideas could be a grass routs religion based in Kusari, that way you can use the Farmer's Alliance as your tag, or you could be a religious counter to the Gaians, as in a religion based off Terra-forming. With that you could be a gnostic belief with a lot of stress on improvement of both yourself and your environment. One more idea could be a counter to the Rhineland religion of the Kanzler, believing in ether another person to be "the divine being" or that there is no divine being at all.
Ultimately, you should come up with a small idea of the basics of the religion, it's lawfulness/equality ideas, and find a good spot the Admins will let you call Home, or write something about the religion being made up of a bunch of Nomadic people (that is people who don't have a home, not aliens.... but a religion based on Nomads would be cool. They would still attack you but you think of them as Holy beings or something)
