A good result can take up to 2 hours or maybe even more. If you really want me to make you one then I can have one done by the end of this Saturday at the latest. The reason being I have to clear my queues (once again) to fit you in, while finishing ongoing requests.
Edit: It might take shorter than that, I'll see what I can do with the already existing map.
Very interesting! At a first glance it looks awesome, and I'll stretch the texture a bit more (1000 -> 1024) and import it into my game to see how it fits with both versions!
Unfortunately, one can only guess where the ingame 4.86 systems will be but I think your map will still do a great job then ... if they are the right ones now ^^
I prefer the second one because the idea of having all the names of the regions still there (at least on my ingame maps) is great - I'd never thought of that!
However, there are some slight issues. I know, the map is supposed to be able to be used with a rather unknown ingame system placement but as you can see, some system regions have their borders extremely close to their systems.
Like Omicron Alpha or Baffin and Coronado, for example (there might be some more).
Looking and comparing long enough, I think the regions need to be squished and/or moved a bit. I think this can be a pain in the butt to do it all again just to make such a slight detail.
Or maybe the color saturation nearby those systems needs to be adjusted to remove parts of the black "cloudiness".
*sighs* I hate it when I can't explain exactly what I mean :D
Anyway, the text wall is not complete yet! Because my internet connection was very crappy for a few days, I used that time to see what I can do with Cabulb's map. And voilà :
I like that really much! And until someone shows up with a work quite like this (yes, I know, this is different from the one in the Discovery wiki), and until 4.86 comes out, I think I'll take Cabulb's map!
... now I only have to find out how I can change the color of the jump connections :D
