Today former Platinum Incorporated acting-CEO Floyd. G. Murphy sold the controlling shares in the raw ore mining company to Doe Industries for a whopping $15,000,000,000 Sirian Credits. This leaves Doe Industries with a continued monopoly on raw ore operations within Liberty and in a position to improve national exports of the materials with little extra operational costs.
In the amicable merger, Doe Industries now own and operate Rutherford Station and Platinum Incorporated mining facilities in the Alberta system as well as their mobile mining refinery, Platinum|-Maple.Leaf, a Barge class variant 2.
It is expected the sale will take days to complete and with other pressing projects all around Liberty and Sirius, we can expect to see a rise in commercial activity in the area around the Alberta system.
This has been a news report from Jenny Craig, Liberty Stock Exchange news correspondent.

A Navy heavy transport suffered severe damage in a pirate attack ten kilometers beyond Manhattan's zone of influence yesterday evening. The First Fleet Bison-class transport, Mount Sentinel, was fourteen kilometers out from Manhattan, bound for Fort Bush, when it reportedly came under attack by pirate raiders. The ship sustained significant damage, including loss of its main drive unit and communications array in an attempt to withdraw to the safety of Manhattan's orbit. Mount Sentinel's residual velocity was enough to carry the damaged ship to Manhattan's sphere of influence, where it was intercepted and its orbit stabilized by the heavy lifters Carlton and Dancing Lady.
No casualties have been reported, and First Fleet Command has refused to offer further comment on the matter. Mount Sentinel's crew was transferred to Long Island Station, and the ship transported to Norfolk Shipyard under tug to undergo necessary repairs.
This is the latest in a string of increasingly bold pirate attacks, and one of the first recorded successful attacks on a Naval auxiliary by domestic pirates since the destruction of the LLS Clearwater in 814A.S.
Earlier this week Norfolk Shipyard was filled with onlookers as the Navy commissioned its newest dreadnought, the LNS Malrone. A state-of-the-art vessel and the lead ship of the newly-designed Sentinel-class dreadnoughts, the Malrone is expected to enter full combat service after a two-month shakedown cruise throughout Liberty. The Malrone is named after the late Fleet Admiral Jack Malrone, an extremely well respected leader within the Navy who mysteriously disappeared around last February, whilst on a dangerous mission in hostile territory. The Malrone is thought to be a replacement vessel for the LNS Cloverfield, an aging experimental craft that was lost last month during a Navy defensive operation in the Hudson sector. As for the Malrone's capabilities, Vice Admiral James Lambert had this to say:
"The Malrone is one of our newest craft, and she's based off of technical data we've gathered from combat trials on the Cloverfield and other vessels, and is specifically built with flexibility and defensive capability in mind. With a vessel as capable as the Malrone in our fleet, I have no doubts that our external and internal defense troubles will be easily handled."
Last minute maintenance checks are being made before the Malrone's shakedown cruise next week. It will last approximately two months, according to the Department of the Navy, before being re-fit and tasked with the rest of the First Fleet.
