I feel like I need a program that'll allow me to view Freelancer ship models in a perspective and textured way. It doesn't have to be rendered/shadowed.
I tried the HardCMP, it works awesome, but the ships are not in perspective, and I can't find a perspective view. :@
Nor do I feel like getting 3DS Max and converter and all that jazz. It's a bit too much :<
Your only choices are either 3DS Max or Milkshape 3D. Both are commercial programs. There isn't a CMP exporter or importer for anything else, I'm afraid.
That's if you're wanting to take a model and get it in game. If you're just wanting to look at existing ship models, then the UTF editor can do that. You can grab the newest version here. If you're doing any modding at all, it's a great program to have around.
Let me correct you on that one Morgan, there's no CMP Importer for Max as far as I'm aware, just an exporter.
So you'd need to use Milkshape and then export it to .3ds, import it into 3ds max, (If you want to look at it in a program that doesn't suck) and reapply the textures after extracting those from the .mat file the ship uses with the UTF editor.
Use Milkshape and the CMP importer plugin for it. It extracts the textures to dds or tga formats...then Just use some other format and export the models to any 3D prog. I usually use lightwave .lwo or wavefront .obj formats to export the models to Cinema 4D. There is actually no need for UTF editor to extract the textures, the V2.7 cmp importer do it for you automatically.
