' Wrote:If you want RP, make it easy for them to stay. Traders lose all of the fights they stick around for because the pirates show up in bomber squads and cap8 gunboats. Show up in something that they have a fighting chance against (like a Titanic) and you'll improve your chances. You'll also be able to sidle up next to your target more easily. It also provides more fertile ground than the 2milrdie crutch, you can RP something like ~synthfoods put my wholesaler out of business and I need fuel money to get home. Everybody else keep doing 2milrdie and tell us its about the RP
That way when you call in the BHG bombers after the pirates done "roleplaying at you" they'll have an easy time right?
Why dont you dismount the guns from your ship so pirates don't have to be so afraid of you fighting back?
That way tehy'll be mroe inclined to roleplay.
And you can get rid of all your bots and bats, so they know you won't call in the lawfuls on them.
They'll be more inclined to roleplay.
You could also get rid of your "I never pay pirates ever" crutch so you can rp something like someone who doesn't oorp metagame game mechanics.
Everybody else can keep their cap8 battletransports, you tell us it's about your trader roleplay.

EDIT: Perhaps i should make my self clearer for the intellectually challenged of us.
I made the exact same arguments you said would increase roleplay, only from the otherside.
And yet I am the pvp blumsg whore.
One does not get to roleplay on one's own terms.
You roleplay on the server's terms, and that means sometimes you get pirated.
Sometimes you get blown up.
Sometimes you get chased off by lawfuls.
Sometimes the trader gets away.
If you find pirates and piracy a distraction that should be eliminated, good sir, no matter how long you cry or how well you argue for that, you sir, are the lolwut who is ruining discovery.
Not because you say u rus.
not because you go 2milrdai.
Not because you powertrade silently.
Not because you lolengage transports in capitals.
But because you are above all that, far above it, and yet still have the same mindset of "I should be able to do what I want, when I want, and anyone else who inhibits that with their playing, and not playing according to my terms, is a lolwut."
Interaction is the end all and be all of Discovery, good or bad, piracy or convoying, raiding or one on ones.
Not credits, and not blumsgs.

There has to be somrtfiing you can do to stop cargo piracy cuz it's not fun for anyone. If the pirate just asked for cash, I'd not be happy but I'd be a lot happier than having mined for quite a time and then being blasted in Newcastle 30k away from where I was gonna sell it. Also they sometimes even shoot you when you want to give them their cargo.

That sounds an awful lot like you should be able to have fun at another's expense.
Lets clear up Misconception #1
That being...
Pirates are not meant to be liked. They are an avenue of RP for some, and to those that chose it, cool for them. Traders are under no obligation to congratulate the pirate, or even like what he does. In all likelihood, the trader comes away from the pirating demoralized and angry.
Traders are under no obligation to like pirates, nor there role-play.

with new ID they don't
I don't pirate for money. Bah most people don't pirate for that, because you'll take ages to earn anything. There are of course days then you can get exremly lucky, but those occasions are rare. You'll earn more simply by spending that time trading. What I like about the pirating? Being a criminal. Piracy is not just about taking away money, no, it's also about all the fuzz you get into for doing that. Overall it's just playing the game and immersion.
Why do some pirates dislike "I rather die guys"? No not because some credits, skrew them most of the pirates aren't into pirating for money even to begin with. It's because such statements kills immersion. Simple as that. And I find your, Ursus, justification for doing so utterly stupid. "I can't die". Just because you can press "Respawn" button as a player doesn't mean your character is immortal and shouldn't be afraid of death. Game mechanics are flawed. Basing your roleplay on flawed parts of game mechanics leads to flawed roleplay. And promoting such view is ... blahhh..
But if I don't pirate for money, why do I ask money even to begin with? - because without risk factor game is not intresting at all.
a big problem with pirates these days is they seem to have a mentality of deserving the credits for just parking their arse at a lane and waiting.
you want my creds or some cargo? Talk to me, show me your not just a greedy kid.
Greedy few-word pirates often eat my battletransports guns.
those who rp with me? often walk away with more than they asked for.
Not all traders are greedy, hell i trade for the RP of it. I got everything i want. No-reply traders? fine, blow em up, but there are far more arse-hole pirates than silent traders atm. Show the traders your not in it for the "ruin your moment" concept and do reasonable demands and your far more likely to have rp.
