' Wrote:The biggest question is "How fast are the shields up again?". I dunno the values for that from my head.
I often take whatever I see fitting. As the fast and the big shield have both specific classes and there are only 1 of each, I don't pick those if I'm shot at by fighters using weapons which are effective against them.
Hmm, so far people seem to be liking the fastest regeneration one alot I guess. Makes me wonder if the high powered one has any really good use... unfortunately it takes about 116 seconds (close to a transport's 111) to reach full strength after a failure, and the fastest regenerating one takes half that time at 55 seconds (best fighter shields take about 45 seconds to reach full power from a failure, 73 for a gunboat). Massive difference... and they all take 12 seconds to rebuild?
I can see the high powered one being useful for smugglers who only expect to take a couple potshots before escaping somehow... but anyone looking for combat would need power faster... the highest regeneration one seems like it would be best for general dogfights?
Well my Recycler uses the highest shield. As it is more a bomber then frieghter. I want all the shield posible when going in for a bombing run, as after i fire i am getting away to recharge for another shot anyway. So more shield= less chance for damage to ship.
In a frieghter i think i would still stick with toughest shield. After all most can dodge very well, so recharge is not a biggy for me.
Speed of regen is proportional to the shield generator sucking up more power, which means less power for the guns. Simple balance is shield regen versus power for guns.
