I once suggested something along the line of replacing "Military" ID by "United Houses of Sirius" ID; basically, a no-lead, no-hierarchy (oorply speaking) force in the same purpose of the United Nations, that would hunt down pirate Sirius wide to maintain the peace. It would be much more in rp, anyhow than just "military id", which doesnt explain at all how they could be "military", and sounds very much like "paramilitary". But I dont think my suggestion would work, considering a faction such as agneus dei.
Team Sirius: Sector Police by another name, my friend. There is no way a fascist police state like Rheinland and a feudal empire like Kusari would join any international organisation of the UN sort, which only has a nominal peacekeeping force. Plus, it would conflict with Bretonia's actions, which are to fund Blood Dragon and Golden Chrysantheneum forces in Kusari.
I know. If you read the orignal suggestion, which i posted in flood, I suggested the force was made up at the end of the 80 years war in an effort to assist Rheinland forces to keep it away from the pirates. An initiative mainly by Liberty, but Bretonia as well - while Kusari implication would be minimal, seeing most GMG are from Kusari.
There would be a certain period of stability I believe, in which the houses might have been implicated a bit more in the humanitarian side of the peacekeeping mission.
Of these days however, it is obvious the peacekeeping forces would mainly come from Liberty. Bretonian might still have a certain interest within it, while Rheinland would probably have quit the UHS from the way it is. Kusari probably did as well (if you consider they are the first agresor, then they must have left the first, unless its bretonia, im never sure about this).
Anyhow, it would rather fit, because I cant see how rhienland would allow paramilitary - just see how RM is handling those with even Rheinland Military ID, it is impossible they'd allow such things around. As to Kusari and Bretonia, a bit harder for me to explain due to the very shadowy nature of the war to me (i dont read much the news ingame)
I prefer the idea of a "Paramilitary" ID than a United-nations sort of one.
If there was a United Anti-pirate ID that could use House ships, imagine the players who'd be attracted to that. Wouldn't be a pretty sight, Rheinland Bombers running amok in Liberty. Bretonnian Gunboats waltzing through Kusari.
no indeed. I thought about making a specific line of ships of the ships still in the UHS (probably liberty and bretonia), pretty much same as the actual one but painted with the UHS colour (white and blue), say 2 lf, 2 vhf, 2 bomber, 2 gunboat, and maybe 2 freight, not too much work.
' Wrote:I'd have to disagree with the Trader ID being dumped. Having not many people with RP on an ID
doesn't/shouldn't make it a target for elimination.
Why can't there be independent traders - smaller traders, do more day to day business at cheaper rates
than larger corporations, there is a very good reason for them to stay...
Eliminating independent traders is like saying that only WalMart, Tesco and BigW can operate, not others ...
There is no faction/regulated owners behind trading, anyone should be able to setup shop for trading.
Military is a whole different issue, you dont have private individuals behaving as military. Military is always
backed by a government (legal or otherwise) - I agree with that...
I included the Trader ID into this discussion to illustrate a point. If there is going to be a call to remove generic ID's ... you must include the Trader ID (as it is a generic trading ID). I don't really think it needs to be removed. But if people start calling for removal of the generic Pirate ID, then I'm gonna call for the removal of the generic Trader ID. Like you said ... why should we be limited to WalMart, Tesco and BigW? Pirates aren't necessarily grouped together. They generally operate autonomously (that means they act by themselves). All other unlawful factions (while they CAN pirate) are not really pirate factions. They are just in opposition to lawful factions. And in reality ... not all of them are "unlawful." Bretonia and Kusari are at war ... so if you are Bretonian, the Kusari would be considered unlawful ... and visa versa.
So lets be careful when we start calling for the removal of generics please ... because the Trader ID "is" generic folks. There are trading factions out there that people can joing (which of course would limit where you can and cannot trade). But everyone wants a Trader ID because this ID removes all trade restrictions. A Trader ID can trade with both lawful and unlawful factions. Other ID's (if you read them) limit them to trading with one or the other. Note that the GMG do not like Rheinland ... so a GMG ID'd ship cannot dock on a Rheinland planet or base.
