As already mentioned, the problem probably was, that your base didn't have any commodities on it. So it went low on hull and exploded. I suggest you read everything here carefully. If you want to get answered some quick questions look here.
Read it all and read it well. Then nothing can go wrong.
Yeah, commodities. It's easy to have the "w00t!" factor when you see how few resources it takes to build a base. But even if you plonk it 200k off the plane away from danger, keeping it from dissolving into space takes a big steady stream of supplies. And even more so in the next release.
Quick tips to make sure your base survive at early of its life
Make sure you have at least 2 transport, 1 transport full of Basic alloys and another full of 200 spaceship crew, 1k of food, 1k of water and 1k of oxigen, dock at the nearest base of your future player base location, new deployed base have only around 5% hull, so you need to supply it with repair material as soon as possible.
If you do have spare transport, fill it with either robotic, industrial material, superconductor or nuclear device and dock it on same base as above, so you can start constructing shield
Hire some people or ask your friend to help you, supplying base by yourself is pain the arse, especially when it has no shield yet, my calculation you need at least 2 person to complete shield in 1 hour if you build your base in Kusari
Actually, for fresh bases, I'd recommend a single 5K transie with the following cargo for kickstarting it:
200 Crew
602 Food
602 Water
602 Oxy
390 Hullpanels
390 Basic Alloy
390 Robotics
This package gives a fresh base enough materials to repair itself to full strength in 18 minutes after construction, and enough. Building and fueling a shield is likely going to be your first priority. It can be done in as little as 26 minutes after the base is operational by my calculations, but you'll need a lot of transports for that.
