I had tried on other RP like forums for those types of games, but never got it off the ground. Yes, before you ask, I would have been what the title for myself is, Sirius Science Committee. I thought, maybe could make a faction that would have similar rights as the Researcher ID did, but have similar aspects from other factions and change it around abit. If it doesnt take off, maybe some of the ships can be taken for new or replacement models, if there are any.
If you can't tell the theme, the ships look as if they could fly through the atmosphere and back into space. Its the wing and tail fins that are the reoccuring theme for these. If the idea does take off, SSC does not have a bomber. I don't know why, but I think a faction like the one Im about to go into detail, has no true reason for a Bomber.
Faction Info: The Sirius Science Committee, or the SSC, was created during the start of the colonization of Sirius. Originally to unite the House Governments, which were known at the time, and to help create a galaxcy for all to have freedom and opportunity. However, this was soon found impossible, as Rhienland and Liberty began arguing and Bretonia and Kusari Naval forces were engaging in the Tau system. At this point the SSC desided to launch their own "Sleeper" ships with 4 other cruisers and battleships for what they might find beyond Sirius Space. The Project "Exodus" was one of the SSC's achievements, but also cost more than what Liberty and Rhienland spent on the mass-production of weapons and ships. Shortly after the project, the SSC had to lay-off many of it's employees and sell much of its real-estate, to avoid debt. Soon, the SSC fell off the map and became less and less known. The man that started SSC, who is only known as "Mr. Vaga", had lost much of what the corperation had. After the Gallia Empire declared war on the rest of Sirius, "Mr. Vaga" saw this as a opportunity to rebuild his corperation to it's full power. Some think the SSC isn't legit, and some think it's Leader is not a real person. Although questions are raised, SSC is strictly for the advancement of the human race.
List of allies and enemies, I will state the reason for the faction alignment in "()", some might not. Also color coded like that of the Wikis. Allies Lane Hacker(Conducting buisness in programming of electronics, but still restricted on certain Communication Lines) The Order(In the interest of protecting mankind from the alien threats that are in Sirius) House Governments(to establish a political status in the houses, except Gallia) Zoners(For having some of the best ship builders in the Sirius Sector and relations with Border World Exports)
Neutral House Military House Police House Corperations Everyone Else
Hostile LSF(Considered suspicious individual and otherwise not to be allowed at SSC base(s)/System(s)) Xenos Gallia Royal Navy Gallia Royal Police
Home System
The Sahara system has no planets other than the Centeral Station, which directly mined the ores from this one planet. In addition, 6 smaller stations, 2 shipyards and 4 basic Stations with Bio-Domes, set around the Centeral station, all equal distance from the center. with 3 Jumpholes: One in Sigma-13; One in Cambridge; One in Hudson; to allow any and all house governments into the system. As set rule for this system, under the SSC, all ships entering the system are not to fire on ships that would normally be hostile, if done so, that ship or its group will be told to leave the system. Sahara system is basically similar to the Badlands, but like the Tau-37 syste with a hint of yellow. The system also has random pockets of Gold and Copper Ores, however, in order for non-SSC ships to mine it, they will need to request permission to do so. Syste, is located between New Hampshire and Sigma-13.
ID Properties
*Can Trade and Escort fellow Traders.
*Can fire on other ships only in selfdefense.
*Can carry Nomad Material; Artifacts; Gallia Artifacts; and Nuclear Devices.
Allowed Ships: Fighters, Freighter, Transports, Gunships, *Cruisers, *Battleships * Still in production
Thats basically the General Idea here.I might change and improve the Large Transport model to something more understandable. As well as some work on the Gunship.
Comments, thoughts?
Note: I thought it would be a good attempt of re-introducing the Researcher style back into Discovery.
This idea is a bit farfetched, and won't receive much support as currently written. Try to lighten it a bit. A sleeper-ship creating company is one thing that needs to be removed. The sleeper ships of Sol required the combined efforts of an entire coalition of countries, and their entire remaining stockpiles of materials and labor. No single company - or house - can create 4 sleeper ships and send them off. Even one would be out of reach. Further on that same vein is the cruisers and battleships said to accompany them.
This faction idea needs to be trimmed and made more believable. Much more, in order to be considered. Furthermore, it will need to be represented as a player faction for months to be considered.
Additional civilian craft can only add to the diversity and neatness of the mod. i know a few of those models would be rather snazzy as a refitted scramjet or old era vessle.
the faction would be a separate bit of business but im sure you can pull it off with perseverance and pious effort.
Making a faction is hard thing- you wont make any progress there fast and alone- you need at least 5-7 people to play with you- you could however join to one of the new projects around.
Concentrate on Modelling- ask the existing factions that need ships.
There are many ships that need replacement:
Havoc and Waran Bombers need replacements as well.
Civilian Atmosphere shuttle for example, semi-lawful civilian ship in 3,5k branch is missed
AD wanted 2 Civilian GBs to be added- one Borderworlds line one Civilian Line.
You could try to improve your models- because they are not on the deserved quality for the game now.
