I notice that the better universal/cap armour upgrades are linked [re. their info cards] to the Corsairs and the Order......now I have for instance a Rogue character who I would never dream of equipping with Corsair GB turrets even if they were "better" and realise that a lot of forum postees advocate the "just 'cos you can buy stuff on a friendly base doesn't mean you should use it" rule of thumb, with which I fully concur....I wonder how strictly this is followed with regard to the armour though? Like I'm newish but trying to keep it all "RP" as much as I can....Thus my rouge is flying a Rouge GB with 1 [not 2] Dragonfly turret, 2 Thoths and 3 Outcast GB turrets [vauge ideas drawn from the Lrg/smallAA mix of guns on oldtime Navy ships etc].....all of which reference "Rogue" or at least "Allies" in the IC...... I'm aware that there would be many much more efficent "killer" loadouts, theoretically....so should I only purchase armour upgrades up to the ones that start to reference corsair etc?.... How strictly is RP followed regarding these upgrades? Like I'm perfectly happy to stop at L5 say, if thats the "done thing" as per the guns.

It's a matter of perception, really.

My character roleplayed that he experimented with various exotic materials and chemical reactions until he got the desired effect. I guess you could RP that you had an inventor harden your hull in the same manner... If you're not roleplaying a scientist, that is.

Hope that helps in a very slight, and not at all important, way.

All armour upgrades and scanners are considered Universal, so you can use them on your Rogue gunboat.

Nicely RP loadout there. I like. However armour wise you can go with whatever you can afford. As Robert said they are considered universal.

Just say the junkers did some maintenance on your ship and, for a fee, slapped on some upgraded ablative armor.

Junkers sell everything over the black market.

Fair enough so...like the guy [char] is still at the "window shopping" stage anyway [it cost him his shirt to get the ship] I just wanted to check out the situation in advance before mounting anything weird......The "Junkers connection" would seem to cover it too....Thanks very much for the imput folks.

If you really want, you can explain to players in-game or on the forums about your armour / loadout, but that's in no-way necessary - the equipment is universal.

I had a somewhat similar background for RF's Wrath. Sigma 13 wrecks + Junkers = Technical wonder!

There have been requests that it be changed to not say that, because...well, its rediculous.

Well, actually I was just now thinking how it might be fun to enforce such restrictions as long as there were certain balances......like maybe certain factions could have better armour, others better shields/weps etc.......just a tought.
