In my experience, it has usually been capships that have been the problem. Not always, but usually. Thats beside the point however, the ship is not responsible for the attitude or mistakes of the player I agree. Could just as well be flying a rhino.
The thing is that such problem does not exist.
First if one shoot you because his ID allows him to do so,together with the proper engagement note it is more then fine.
Official factions have the means to change their IDs together with their ID rephacks and shaping their general RP by requesting stuff to the Devs , HOWEVER the house laws are not canon RP hence:
ID>>>>>House Law.
In this case if Liberty official faction thinks that ALG traders need to be protected they can fill a note to the Dev team to add exception to the LN ID disallowing the attack at ALG vessels. Devs on the other hand must review the said request and approve it.
House Laws are RP laws that have nothing to do with the rules.

An Official Faction's decision not to shoot something their ID allows them to shoot does not mean un-officials have to follow that same line of thought.
There is no problem here. It is YOUR lack of knowledge of the system that is making you become upset.

I'll point out one problem: when the indies outnumber the faction, whatever the faction wants becomes a moot point.
Thus, in this specific case, there is no point of having an RP exception for ALG to be in Liberty, since the indies won't abide by it anyway. This means that in this case, the ID is tailored for the indies, and not the official faction.
Actually, since the Devs intend for ALG to be able to enter Liberty, then they can only be shot after failing to comply with the laws or instructions given by an agent of the Liberty Forces, within reason. The laws are not just extra rules to follow - they also offer a formalised framework of directives to guide the roleplay of lawfuls.
I believe seeking blue as police/navy/intelligence IDed player is no better than doing that same using pirate ID. InRP laws open possibilities to abuse them, for example in Rheinland law, article 3, trade regulations, we have written Ageira can trade Consumer Goods in Rheinland, except whips, chains and liquid latex. (lol...)
What does that mean? That means, in theory, police IDed player can destroy your Ageira IDed ship with Consumer Goods onboard, stating these are whips, or chains, while you say otherwise. Or engage because you have "wrong thruster", whatever that means. I believe both cases are PvP abuse, and should be reported.

Nice to know. Later when i get on, i will have to get the yorktown to kill all foriegn ships i see near Manhattin then. After all my ID allows it, even if [LN] does not right?
Time to go back to the Yorktowns RP of hating all freelancer ships, and blowing them all to hell because that is his RP, and not against server rules, only the [LN] laws.
