Caps never dock, they moor. Blame inheriten broken vanilia Freelancer size balance and game limitations in general.

In short: no.

Not totally sure the rationale but as previously intimated, they moor, something possible on any size base.

What do you mean by this? The fact that Planets are the size of small towns? Whats that got to do with it?

Hone, I am not sure if you see that but you actually asnwered yourself on topic as to why some caps are even comparable in size currently to both stations and planets...

Now, if there was a way to some how actually implement that into the game,

Same here, but...I belive, game cannot afford do that, because all docked ship "disappear" and becoming invulnerable. (sry too lazy check spelling) While, when ship moored, it generaly keep being in space, just connected with another object like here. So, in our cases, when you pressed dock....Tren walks to station from his LNSDrd to Riverside station by one or few gateways, like in airports, talks to bartender and watching news abot something....his preciouse ship still remain in space, being actualy SWEET target for LR Trent's clones on bargests and rocks.

As Omicron sayed...
Quote:game limitations in general.

I belive, in Void, when you was undocking from station on cap, control tower was saying like "mooring link disabled". I think that all what can be actualy added.

Yeah planets are too small, but why do you think stations are? There's no size stations must be, so whatever size they are, is the right size. In fact seeing as shipyards have bays the right size to fit caps in, the current size actually IS the size stations should be.

A mooring plugin is in progress - AD and Cannon have been working on it. I believe one of the side effects is that quickdock points will be removed entirely. Snubs will have to dock through hangars again, while capitals will also have a docking animation for mooring points.

AD has also edited the docking paths themselves to make things less painful, shortening most of them. That's also fixed cases like the Fort Bush mooring bug, where the ship moves backwards and then gets stuck, locked in the docking animation sequence.

If capital ships are going to be restricted, it'll probably only be from the very smallest stations, like border stations and outposts. That'll make them useful staging points for snubs, while capitals have to be sourced from further afield. Deep space areas like the Omicrons generally only feature large, isolated stations, so they probably wouldn't be affected at all.

That sounds awesome Jammi, but what do you mean by "mooring plugin"? Will it mean that a cap cant just suddenly dissapear, but has to sit in space while it repairs/the captain walks around on the station? I hope so! And if it does I dont see any need to restrict it from mooring on some stations.

Nope. Just means that different ships moor on different parts of the station, and stations can be designed only to accommodate certain classes of ships. So for example, transports but not capital ships.

I don't think it's technically possible to have the ship stuck externally to the station while docked. Engine limitation.

Sure right after they restrict GBs/Cruisers, and transpots with over 2K cargo also.
Just as many Transports, and some freighters also do not fit through bay doors.
Also if caps cannot dock on some stations because of bay doors, then Snubs should not be allowed to dock on shipyards that have no bay doors at all.
