Now THAT, Unit, is invaluable information. Thanks a bunch.
I usually, practically always, have these problems with my Raven's Claw. Eight weapon slots, three groupings, hull busters not being the first group, you get the picture. The worst thing is that I usually find out I've got the groupings wrong in the middle of battle, as I usually keep the weapons hud toggled off.
Again, THANK YOU! You're a life savior. I mean it.:yahoo:
Also, when your killed, whatever weapon group you had selected will be overrun by the 1st weapon group. So say my 1st weapon group were my normal BS turrets, and my 2nd group was for my 2 BS Infernos (my old loadout/setup). If I had my Infernos selected, then died, the 2nd group would then be BS turrets again, and I'd have to reset them..
@galaktik; It might only be 30 seconds of work, but 30 seconds is alot of time in a fight, and you can set them when your docked.. If the battle is right outside, it can be a big problem.
I noticed that the first group overrides the last active one. But i rarely pay attention to what group i have selected when i dock.
Also i dont find it "handy" to select a group by using [anybutton]+1,2,3,4 etc
I select my weapon group by number, i use default for setting the weapon groups. And fire any weapon with my mouse. I have 3 groups asigned to mouse buttons.
Right-button - Fire active group
Side-button 1 - Fire group 6, allways missiles, torps or razor
Side-button 2 - Fire Cruise Disrupter
This way you can fire 3 different guns/groups without selecting any other group. It works for me, maybe it is interesting enough for someone else.
"War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage."
Strangely enough I don't need to assign the group, per se. I use the numbers for selecting the group. If I simply select/deselect weapons for that group while I have it selected I don't need to assign that modification, it simply sticks to that grouping even if I select another one. In the end, the selection commands are all I need right now.
My mouse too has two aditional side-buttons, maybe I'll give it a try, might come in handy.

Ah... I havent seen this post until a min ago, but i have a lot easyer way...
You must simpli go to CONTROLS and there you will find:
ACTIVATE WEAPONS GROUP 1 (empty)
ACTIVATE WEAPONS GROUP 2 (empty)
AWG 3 (empty)
AWG 4 (empty)
...
And change it to:
ACTIVATE WEAPONS GROUP 1 (1) - or any key you want...
ACTIVATE WEAPONS GROUP 2 (2) - or any key you want...
AWG 3 (3) - or any key you want...
AWG 4 (4) - or any key you want...
Simply press ACTIVATE WEAPONS GROUP 1 and there place key 1(or any key you want), then do that for all groups you need. After that just save new controls and start playing. When you press 1 you wont see any effect at the first, but then just activate all weapons you want and deactivate weapons you dont want in group 1. After that(if you chose for GROUP 2 to be key 2) just press number 2. All weapons will go offline(because it group 2), and then activate those weapons for wich you want in you GROUP 2.
After that you can do that for all weapons groups you want.
yep, forgot about dying. The fun part about that though is, sometimes you dont realize its been overwritten, so you think your just on weapons group 1 and then you goto switch to a different one, and uh oh XD
