I've had a near-Lane Hacker character for months. He's a synth-head flying around in a Slipstream. His RP is that his cousin "knows some Lane Hackers" and is going to get him into that faction. He's the typical Camaro-driving mullet-wearing small towner with big dreams of becoming "somebody" outside the law, but not really talented or smart enough to pull it off.
It's funny though, whenever I try to RP with people saying "yeah man, I'm going to be a Lane Hacker someday, my cousin knows a few of them and said he'd get me in!" I get responses like "Join the Hellfire Legion, they're a LH faction" :\
"To gain a hundred victories in a hundred battles is not the highest excellence;
to subjugate the enemy's army without doing battle is the highest of excellence."
Cryer (finding a substitute for Cardi on Atka......to quote Greg: "there is no substitute"... sniff),
Samura (planet Kurile with Alien Organisms export + special relations with the Farmers Aliance)
....are the very interesting companies to role play... shame that no one does that.... for me Republican shipping is a much more boring company (sorry AC_Merc).
I think I'll come back with Ageira in a month or so...and see if anyone is interested.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.

just shows, some people here actually and seriously do not know what roleplaying is.
cryer....mmm, great faction.
not corrupt, per se, but....not lawful either....chaotic neutral?

I was agreeing with everything you said there... until you made references to the DnD alignment system. Bad, Unseelie, bad!

I thought that's what the npcs were for...

/Agree with Drake. Lane Hackers are definitely the faction that I gravitated to when I first started flying around in my defender. Most factions have this "we're a big powerful military and gonna wipe you" attitude. But the LH are different. Scouts, informants and what have you. They don't take Cardamine to get a spiritual connection or because it gives them a high, they take it to increase their intellect, which I can really connect with.
Hehe, Q in James Bond was always my favorite character.
"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."
