Well, another day, more or less productive. Managed to finalise model work on the Basalt (now with forward turret if Mjol agrees with it), Dacite and Mafic. Actually noticed during size comparison that the current Dacite VHF is bigger then the Mafic SHF. Kinda explains why mine got blown up so damn often:D.
Jinx has supplied me some models to replace the civilian homeworld ships with - the Civilian Shuttle and Civilian Freighter, and is now working on replacements for the last remaining Homeworld imports: The Renzu HF, VHF and freighter. When those are done, all the butt-uglies are dropped from the mod. Good riddance.
Checking the icons is proving to be less easy then I thought. Seems the game doesn't allow a ship dealer to list more then 3 ships - so I'm going to have to reload after checking every 3. Means some 70 restarts to check every package. Pain in the bloody rear, there has to be an easier way. Tired now though, time for sleep. It'll come to me.

We're no longer doing imports. That includes Imperial transport shuttles and the likes. So no, it won't look like that. I'll post a piccy when able but for now you can imagine it being the offspring of a Starflier and a CSV. The freighter has the same general cockpit but has a few cargo pods chugging behind it. Simple follows the CTE line well.
Another slow day at work, killed some time by merging in a few old weapon turret loadout upgrades in Liberty and Bretonia. These vanilla turrets were ridiculously weak so the upgrade was needed. Took some time, the system files had already changed a few times from the time the weapon loadout proposals were made. Merges are a pain in the rear.
Also prepped a Spatial replacement, but that one might not make it until later in the beta. Spatial is an import and will be dropped eventually (all imports will), but given the Spatial model-wise is of good quality, it's not a priority. Not one that should hold up beta 1 anyway...

You might wanna check the vanilla 'sair bases too, especially Cadiz and Leon. They can't even kill a Dagger while the Hessian bases in O5 and O11 can rape a Legate
Station turret loadouts are still on the todo list. It'll probably have something to do with the base level and hardness level of the "pilot" on those bases. I'll check it out. However, Cadiz is a HUGE model, and as such, doesn't have gun coverage allround.

Its not about the size, its about the number and gun levels. Cadiz and Leon just suck.
Thanks for looking into it
Edit: Cadiz's infocard says that it was designed as a "large population centre to house nearly 30,000 people" which, I think, makes it one of the largest bases in Sirius so iit would make sense for it to rape everything that comes close to it. I'm not saying it should be like the Isis but at least on the same level with Ronneburg, Freital or Freistadt

What surprises me is that the entire system is dotted with weapon platforms, but the bases themselves have none... I guess there's potential for improvement there. Those rocky weapon platforms with instead of their usual peashooters, an EMP missile and heavier blaster combination should augment that base's lack of weapon hardpoint coverage nicely. Same for Ronneburg (fair is fair).
Dev update: Had a bit of a setback yesterday. I was working on checking the ship icons for all the current ship packages against their shapes (tedious work - have to check 300 ship packages 3 at a time to see how the icons look ingame) when Mjolnir reported there were significant issues with the hardpoints on the Homeworld model replacements and GMS mining ship replacements. Went back and rechecked the lot of them (except the GMS ones which Mjolnir was handling himself) which took to about 2AM. Also deferred the replacement of imports that still have an okay quality indefinately as Mjol indicated the sudden flurry of replacements would cause delays on the balancing end. The focus from my end remains to release 4.86 public beta 1 ASAP. Once people can experience the bulk of the eyecandy and new toys in the beta I expect there'll be less complaining about the dev process (which yea, is taking WAY too long).
