I just bought a Mk. II to replace my Mk. I, and it's more than a little disappointing...

Despite it's aerodynamic shape, it seems to have worse handling than it's predecessor, and it doesn't have a rear turret slot at all. D:

But... I'd like to know what you guys think.

a. Better looking

For me, I'd go for looks than handling cos I'll be happy with just looking at it even if I lose in PVP..

In looks the mkII wins, but in handling the mkI wins, its a tough choice. I currently fly a mkII but im thinking of getting back to my old hunk a junk.

That is why i have both of them:D

I have flow Mk I much longer, and not to many people are using it, so it is more original to fly it. Also i think it is much better for combat then Mk II, better handling, and i love details on him

Not many people are using it....ehm...... *points at BSG and Workers front[W]*.... I'm getting the feeling that I fight Vipers all day long.

I say MKII because it's a very hard ship to hit, also it has more armor than the MKI and I believe it's faster as I've fought the same two ships in one fight. And as far as looks on the MKI go, ewwwww?

boys and girls sorry to burst you bubble here..but both vipers have same agility...same power source, same weapon array (turret is useless anyway)...

Only difference is that Viper MK I is smaller with weaker hull...and naturally MK II is larger and has stronger hull.

So basically what ever you choose....its basically the same ship...

I believe Mk1 has a smaller mass, but i'm not sure.

Mk2 is just too big for me, it turns just the same speed as Mk1, but it's big.

The only good spot on Viper is that it has a small hitbox.
Everything else is bad on this ship.
Agility - bad
Power capacity and recharge - bad
Hit points - bad
Number of bots/bats - bad

If mk2 had like 11, or 12k of hull, it might be worth using.
But his strength is not enough to change the small hitbox of the Mk1.

So, what balances the Mk1 to be fair with other ships is his size.
And Mk2 doesn't have that advantage.
So, i'm saying as a pilot of both of these, that for combat, Mk1 is pretty much better.

Mk2 looks nicer, anyway.
But when you get used to Mk1, you just love it:D

Mk1 is more agile than Mk2. Maybe not the turn rate itself (thats maneuverability) but the time it needs to get his max. turn rate (agility) of Mk1 is way better. That also includes strafing. Fact that mk2 has more armor and bots/batteries doesn't really help, cos it's a bigger target and is more inert. Probably due to bigger mass. I fly both so I had plenty of opportunity to compare them...
Even NPC fire is harder to evade in Mk2, which is quite a disadvantage in areas with high lvl hostile NPCs.

As for looks: Mk1 looks as good as Mk2 in his own right. Both models are done with good details and textures. It's only down to ones personal taste but as old romans would say: Degustibus non est disputatum.

Now if i was Blunt/Desecrator, I'd tell u: "Mk2 is not harder to hit. Learn to aim little grasshopper". But I'm not, so I won't.:P

I always had more problems hitting the MKII... because it looks much bigger than the hitbox.....the whole part in front of the cockpit doesn't have a hitbox....

also when I was shooting on MKII flying straight at me the two guns in the middle always hit him.. and the two guns on the wings (of a Wrath) just shoot past.. doesn't happen with MKI.. no idea why




@ Chopper.. when the viper is so bad why are you using it then?:)
as IMG you could use RT, Stinger, Virage, Eagle...

anyway...
Agility... average
power/recharge... average - more than Blood Dragon/Raven Claw, same as Sabre, Chimaera, Odin, Guardian, Stinger....
