This is a known issue in Freelancer, Vsync cannot be disabled in Freelancer with an ATI card. The current workaround is to use ATI Tray Tools and set up a profile for Freelancer. However, once you minimize the game and maximize it again (Alt Tab etc.) the FPS are locked to 60, 75 etc. again. Since the mouse feels extremely unresponsive with these frame rates, I want to bring this topic to discussion and maybe hear the devs out, wether they can do something about this.
By the way, I already asked in the ATI/AMD tech forum. The moment I mentioned Nvidia fixed the problem (or never had it to begin with) they got extremely mad. No help can be expected from that side.
Also, a minor problem, but W7 always goes into Basic theme when I launch FL. This issue did not exist with my old 8800GT. Man, I slowly know why ATI's getting criticized for its drivers.

Yeah, because with my normal 150+ FPS the mouse feels fine. Maybe you are just used to the mouse, I cannot bear it...feels like I am "slipping off" the thing I want to click with 60FPS. And I'm using a Logitech MX518, nothing cheap.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logitech_MX-518 Sure?
This mouse is cheap and buggy, a friend had one-he was really not happy about it. Try with other mouse I suppose, I also use ATI and have no problem.

It's not bugged and it's almost legendary here in Europe, many people use it without problems. It works completely perfectly in other games. I am 100% sure there is no problem with my mouse, simply Freelancer feeling very edgy without really many FPS and ATI that has completely screwed up Vsync control (when I disable it in the driver, I want it disabled, do I ask for too much, AMD/ATI?)

Are you seriously taking me for such an idiot? I already stated in the first post, that it does not matter wether VSync is deactivated in the CCC, Freelancer simply does not recognize it and still has it activated (and as I've heard other games have this problem as well). I also said that it is a known problem. Check this out:
Quote:Before getting to the eye candy, let me quickly talk about mouse lag. I guess almost everybody is familiar with the mouse lag problem that occurs in some games. In almost every case, the laggy/delayed input is to blame on VSync. If you turn VSync off, it solves a lot of the mouse lag problems for many games, including Freelancer. I did some research on the topic and found this article on a private blog by "Vorlath". Basically, to fix mouse lag in the DirectX pipeline, you have to make sure that after any present call, the screen has really received the frame you just rendered. This is easily done in Direct3D9 as stated in the article and it was one of the first things I implemented. Thank god, no more VSync-related mouse lag in Freelancer!
I'd like to bump this more than 6 months later, because I found a program to disable VSync in Freelancer on ATI GPUs fully: It's name is RadeonPro: http://www.radeonpro.info/en-US/
Just create a profile for Freelancer, and force VSync Off in the Tweak panel. This way, your FPS won't be locked to 60 and you can enjoy Freelancer without Input Lag, even when Alt+Tabbing.
