My trader's clean but as he switches to different trade routes regularly, he sometimes decides to make a little extra profit on the route by smuggling once or twice, still mostly does legal trade though.
Well i dont smuggle, i just transport questionable goods from time to time... i do not see it as smuggling, its simply a way to make living. What else am i going to do with 4000 units of GALEM being produced every 30 minutes.
So if you see me in my trader(s) dont expect me to smuggle, like i said, i never smuggle.
"War. War never changes. Since the dawn of human kind, when our ancestors first discovered the killing power of rock and bone, blood has been spilled in the name of everything, from God to justice to simple, psychotic rage."
i did in the ranting topic, like we are ever going to get a commodity that contradicts the Synth Pot. Or maybe rename the Synth pot with a more classical name of weed-strang and then make a second one for GALEM, only purchaseable on the Golden.Greenleaf Lux-Liner (base) in Baffin or any other Zoner system xD

Old Eppy does some smuggling...okay, a LOT of smuggling... And I'll be setting up another smuggler character soon, just for the hell of it. Oh, yes, and whoever came up with the name 'Aluminum Falcon' is an effing GENIUS.

I was going to start a smuggling discussion eventually myself, so I am glad to see this.
My view is that the Smuggler ID should allow docking at all lawful bases.
The Tag ID combination makes it a little trickier.
Assume all the following have the Smuggler ID:
1. No tag : dock at lawful and unlawful bases, but is subject to piracy at all times by anyone.
2. Lawful tag : dock at lawful and unlawful bases, but is subject to piracy at all times by anyone. Pirates belonging to an intended docking port may refuse access. (You can't dock at Malta if an Outcast denies permission. Doing it anyway is grounds for destruction.)
3. Unlawful tag : dock at lawful and unlawful bases, but only at unlawful bases that are friendly or neutral to the Tag.
All smugglers should be willing to "Bribe" pirates to allow safe passage. Basically it should be roleplayed that the smuggler is bribing for an escort, rather than the pirate is demanding tax to avoid death.
Smugglers shouldn't have to bribe as much as Traders have to pay in tax.
Trader ID : I don't think any Trader ID should ever dock at any unlawful base at any time for any reason. This implies collusion with criminals, which any law abiding citizen should avoid.
Traders carrying slaves or other contraband to or from unlawful bases is so out of roleplay in my opinion that it ought to be sanctionable as oorp behavior. That is what the smuggler ID is for now.
On another matter, Eppy, The Lane Hackers have a Smuggling Ring in addition to the Fighter Wing. It isn't really developed yet. It could use a serious pioneer to refine it. I'm sure that we could work out something that would benefit us both and be fun.
