This is what TBH is trying to accomplish. Notice, we aren't targeting only Omicroners, but also TAZ and OSI. Why? Because they all share responsibility for the lack of progress. I have no intention of changing how we are dealing with this with the departure of the Croners. TAZ and OSI will still be in the firing line, along with all other Zoners until this situation is dealt with.
We are trying to give RP help from the outside. Trying to give the Zoners factions the pressure to do what is right by the RP. Although, to be fair, I dont think the Omicroners leaving will change this at all, and it will just be revealed that the other Zoner factions have been using the Omicroners as scapegoats to maintain their own good relations with the Corsairs.

Agreed. TAZ and OSI were politically fortunate, although I doubt it could have happen under real circumstances.
Putting pressure upon all Zoners is again perhaps not realistic RP (would it really be possible?), but it serves a good goal in my opinion, because any NPC faction, even more a great one like the Zoners', should remain playable with game features without violating rp lore.
Also, in my opinion there's a great demand to define the aspects and limits of Zoner RP, and it should be done finally, because I doubt that a permanent focus on Zoners can serve the whole rpg scenario on this server. I'd also rather impose clear and sanctionable guidelines for Zoner RP (concerning Zoners AND Non-Zoners of course) than allowing this insane waste of time happening once a year and draining focus, resources, and everything else, taking it away from the rest of the npc factions.
If it doesn't work I'd remove the Zoners from the playable factions, because it's very questionable that the only NPC faction without military backup is really well placed in an ego shooter game.

I dare say that the circumstances in question were one of the first examples of the Zoners actually being put in a put up or shut up position and, when the smoke settled, the affected diplomacy was a direct result of the actions taken during that time.
OSI decided that the political suicide being demonstrated by the Zoner Council spearheaded by the ZTC was something they were going to have little to do with and decided to do things their own way.
The ZTC decided to go to war with a combined fleet of Hessians, Outcasts, GMG, Order and so on.
The TAZ decided to realize that there was a war going on about a month later and, then, responded vigorously in threads weeks after everyone was already dead. Then someone asked in general discussion who the Corsairs were and if the war was still going on. Last time I checked they still weren't sure if there had been a war at all. But they have a casino now? Also: DAB.
The rest of the Zoner council went six ways to the wind and various small zoner groups folded overnight. Being shot at -sucks-.
When the dust settled the Omicroners and Corsairs were still butting heads, some people rebuilt FP9, there were some more political shinanigans but, for the most part, everyone was left to deal with the repercussions of their actions in their own ways.
While I'd concur that some on the side of the 'Sairs maintain a predilection towards staying a course if it seems like a good enough time I would take strong reservations to any proclamations of any unwarranted political fallout in the face of actions taken.

Let's label this genuine analysis with an [A][A][A] (odds are still too low to get rich, aye?), but in fact you're just describing the scenario as it had been played, not how it's probable to happen in a real universe.

Cheers to the legends
Ooooooh, I gotcha. I was going from the angle of real interplay of players making their next move off of the prior decisions of the guy on the other side of the fence.
If the whole thing had been, like, 100% true to reality?
Well, for starters all of the weirdly proportioned solar systems would have collapsed in on themselves at once. Then I guess everyone would have died everywhere. Also something about freeports being blown up and food and stuff.
Also I was never in [A] XD, I just enjoyed the whole scenario as my usual self. I logged most of my free flight hours in a Fearless sniping Corsairs, most of my fleet hours in a Praetorian defending Crete, most of my faction hours running blockades with my IND and most of my forum hours rebuilding Freeport Nine and playing politics.

I had a b[A]ll.
The immanent problem was the undeniable excitement enliving the server and the enjoyment of pure action (might even apply to me, not necessarily to all "Zoners") together with the annoying fact that it was tried to be sold as solid RP, which I didn't find exciting at all. Meh, since then I've had that RPression I was playing this game against the b[A]ll-less, so perhaps even a matter of militant emancipation - neither fish nor fowl by means of game definitions.
' Wrote:Wasn't it supposed to be sold to the BHG Core last time the eviction notice hit?
Well, we did put our bid in first and foremost the last time. (And have done so again this time, too.)
Doesn't mean I think we'll be successful, just means that we are being ... thoughtful.
As for the whole BHG|Core being involved in this - the last time through, we did actually do enough combat (shooting npc's) to render our ships red to Zoner bases. (At least those of us with official faction ships did.) Then when hostilities ceased, we gradually got our ships at least something close to neutral with them again. I think I still have a ship or two that can't go near FP11 even yet.
The problem - from our perspective - was simple. Zoners may want to be neutral with everyone. That does not mean that everyone wants to be neutral with them. And when - again, from our perspective - Zoners are assisting our enemies (the Order) that pretty much makes the opposite of the enemy of my enemy is my friend true - the friend of my enemey is also my enemy.
Quite frankly - without knowing all of the ins and outs of what else has transpired - all I'm seeing is a rehash of what happened the last time. The Omicroners want to play their RP - and they want everyone else to conform to how the Omicroners want them to be. And when people don't, for whatever reason, the Omicroners are simply crying "Wah, wah, wah" and taking their balls and going home.
