I know, i asked if the model is going to be used as mnd ship or not, as it was suggested after the idea of hessian wraith was scrapped. Model is nice after all.
Quote:That Rheinland unlawful sabre (I presume you mean that Bundshuh fighter model) has an idiotically high group count in the model that was delivered to me and is unusable in it's current form. I am not going to spend hours on fixing up a single such model. I asked on the devboard who'se it was since it was quite some time ago it came my way (and was never even asked for from the devside), and I've forgotten who made the model.
Well, another day passed. I've been working on the Coalition ship replacements that Alvin provided before he left. Another full line replacement, although the changes aren't that severe. The textures are a lot better although I'm wondering if the DDS compression of those was done well. Might need to recheck that, textures of 770KB compressed seem a bit much.
Still got the turret to do of those, too, but that's not too hard. With a bit of scaling that will allow the Coalition to field various sizes of capital weaponry, from gunboat battleship class.

Does that mean...we get a battleship? Or will we just have the means to equip the existing ones with our own turret lines?
The latter. Despite some rumors, there is no Coalition battleship on the drawing boards.
[Edit] Another 4.87 task handled: The Sarissa is going to get a bit of model shrinkage. We're keeping the same model but scaling it to 75% of current - it made no sense that the Ranseur was smaller then the lighter Sarissa. The new Outcast (medium) battleship model might get a small rebalance as a result though - 9 light turrets on something of that size could be an issue.

4.87 devcycle is picking up steam. Parts of the storyline are slowly being decided on, with Friday on point for that task. I've been handling some of the system changes for the Rheinland region. Here's an overview:
- Dresden: Leipzig falls to the Hessians, and the lanes to Pirna and Bautzen get destroyed. The system becomes a warzone as the Hessians mount significant pressure - Rheinland not committing much except protecting Bautzen. The system is practically mined out and therefor not of much economic value anymore.
- Munich: Massive darkmatter disaster, not unlike Texas. The system is shrunken by a significant amount, so it's not as large. The jumphole to S17 goes to S13 instead. Corsairs team up with the Unioners to make a mess of trade. Bundies don't like it and end up opposing the Sairs. Junkers set up shop in the wreckage of Augsburg, making for a nice smuggling point after Yanagi was removed, while ALG starts rebuilding the colony a little further away, out of harms way.
- Hamburg/Hudson/Bering/Texax: Gates to Hudson and Bering get blown on the far side, deactivating the companion gates. Hudson and Bering are effectively ceded to Liberty. Liberty only shows interest in Atka. Jumpholes form between Bering and Texas, and Hudson/Hamburg making for more smuggling routes. The blown gates in the independent worlds get some nice small scrapfields for the junkers to play in. Watch for those Xenos though... Alma sets up shop near Cold Bay, in preparation for a restart of the terraforming effort in Hudson.
- Minnesota/New Hamphire/Quebec/Bremen: Quebec is cut from the route, with Minnesota connecting directly to New Hampshire. Concord hoofs it over to Alberta, Rheinland moves the Westphalia into up into New Hampshire. A tug of war ensues between Liberty and Rheinland over a module of the Munster research station that Liberty made off with. Not entirely sure what needs to be done with/to Bremen yet, but something'll be figured out. Maybe mining. With Omega 15 deleted, there's room for something.
- Omega 56: Is migrating to the Omicrons and getting completely rebuilt. It'll end up somewhere near Delta and Zeta. BHG non-core tech is going to be sold on the BHG regular bases (Sheffield, Deshima etc).
I'm probably forgetting a bunch of stuff and won't bore you guys with the internal changes we're making to allow for easier crash debugging.

Very nice, very nice indeed. I know it isn't an exact science, but could we get a list of stuff which still needs to be completed for 4.87 and/or a timeframe of how long it would take?

Interesting developments, seems I guessed a fair amount when putting together the Bundschuh story stuff (whether that was considered or not). Maybe it'll eventually bring some more people to them if it's made interesting enough.

Sorry to be such a critic but I must ask: How is it that the Hessians can push back both Rheinland while still fending off the Corsairs? I mean sure the Hessians are a big org, but to have enuff firepower to push into Rheinland? What about the Corsairs?! Wouldn't THEY have objections to something like that and try to stop it or push harder on their fronts?
