Freelancer Nerfs for House Tech

Freelancers have a lot of freedom. The drawback of that is that they cannot effectively use house specific or faction specific tech. That is called balance Hone. I do not agree with this at all. Freelancers can use Civilian and Borderworlds tech, which includes ships of nearly all classes that they could be using.

This smells to me like another "I want my shiney ship and zomgpewguns but don't want the drawbacks that come with it" complaint.

Well thats an interesting statement Aet, really what is wrong with "Wanting your zomgpewguns" as long as they are YOUR zomgpewguns? And I would say that house CIVILIAN tech IS for freelancers. After all, if LN got nerfed to Liberty tech, and they wanted it back would you mock them for wanting THEIR "zomgpewguns" the same way you do to FLs?

I realise that it is balance Aet, and I would say that giving house corps house military access would balance it out.

That aside though, what do YOU suggest Gallic FLs fly without a nerf?

No House FL ID either because, you can simply rep your FL accordingly and then state in that nice feature called Player ID ("/si" command) that you have the citizenship of a certain house.

A solution would be to make Gallic civillian gear, generic civillian.

All houses should have shady civil ID, spaceport lowlife scum for some dirty jobs like spying, smuggling bad things, embargo breaking, message delivery... But not like mercs, mercs are assassins.

They should be rewarded for that kind of services by using some house tech freely. They will be greatly nerfed for other houses tech. Out of their house they will be treated as civilians under suspicion. Or even hostile if seen doing something... wrong. They will make all foreign police officers really busy.

They should be all members of OFFICIAL FACTION, tagged beyond any doubt. But to avoid too many factions, they could be secret sub-faction of their house police. 2IC of police should take care of them and be their leader. He knows them well as most of them are ex-prisoners. They will make lot of problems abroad, so leading them is full time job.

They should be masters of RP, to talk their way out of trouble. At least MUST try hard to RP out BEFORE using their guns. As I said, they are civilians, with just basic military training. Words and bribe would be their favor weapons, not guns.

I can imagine their events would be full of all kinds of tricks.

It's not really civilian, though; it's Gallic Corporate. It's not hard to imagine that the Crown is quite strict on ownership of private vessels and so the existence of Freelancers (in the manner in which they are portrayed in Sirius) does not occur as much in Gallia.
