All the very heavy bombers have the same flaws. They die too fast, they are too slow and the hull strength and nanobots/batteries won't help them from:
- fighters that will wipe the floor with them anyway
- lighter bombers that can SN their fat-asses
- gunboats that will turret steer them to smithereens
- cruisers that can battle razor their large profiles too
- battleship that will flak their shields, leading to all the above
I personally think these bombers need much better shields, that will allow them to tank capital ships, but still get battered by a pack of VHFs.

Fafnir is actually a nicely balanced heavy bomber. Even though everyone think it's huge, it's actually not, and can even be considered OP in the realm of heavy bombers. It has:
The largest powercore. All the other heavy bombers (except for Thor's 45k core) have a 47k core. Fafnir has a 50k one.
The thickest hull. Fafnir's the only one anywhere above 25k of hull, and it's actually 2k thicker than Barghest's.
~70 - ~50 nanobots and shield batteries more than the other heavy bombers.
The only drawback: Only 2 forward firing guns.
And yet, everyone think it's "broken" because they compare it to Snubnose, which's of course one of the OPest bombers ingame. Snubnose has all the characteristics of a light bomber, and yet it has medium bomber stats, and that's where the problem is. Of course the Fafnir would be rendered useless when there's a ship 1/3 its size which can do everything it does, but better.
Rogues enjoy flying their Barghests and they're famous for it, while compared to the Fafnir, Barghest is rather underpowered for its size. Now, if you had given the Rogues their own "OP Light Bomber" I'm sure we would've heard the same complaints about the Barghest, while we don't. It's true though, Fafnir doesn't serve a purpose as is, so if the Snubnose is balanced to be a proper light bomber Fafnir would get some use then.
It's just the "reputation" of the ship that's broken. Sabre, for example, was nerfed hard when 86 came out, but most people still think it's "OP", cause that's it's reputation, and it'll stay that way for a long while no matter how many other nerfs the ship gets. Same applies to Fafnir - Everyone cry about how huge that thing is and how much it sucks, while it actually doesn't, so no matter how good the ship really is, people just complain for the sake of complaining, and funny part is, majority of the stuff they complain about is (As teschy said) the common flaws of every heavy bomber.
People who complain about such stuff, should rather fly light bombers rather than complaining about heavy ones.
