No. Just no. This will open the floodgates when combined with capital-versus-transport allowed if there's a group that does not HAVE many players with them. Do we want LibDreads tearing up New Berlin and all traders they can find? Do we want Rheinland Battleships zapping everyone in New York? Recent events have proven players WILL do that.

How bout slapping few Cerberus/Razor turrets on each of Capital system stations (at least 4 main stations + Capital planet docking rings), vastly increasing defensive capabilities of Capitals? Afaik, this could be done on server's side? Ofc., it'd be better done with adding weapon platforms with that kind of role... but I guess that will require client-side updates.
Like it should be, in reality. Hell, capitals are very poorly defended in Freelancer. No difference between being in a capital and being in some border system, basically - except for playerbase reaction, and that's exactly what Jack is talking about.

I think the idea sucks really. I have seen gank forces go into a house, when most of that houses players are sleeping. Then spam system calling all cowards. Well i am sorry, but you want a large fight? then post it in forums ahead of time with a little RP, and arrange a time that all can partake in it.

I think, that I will answer this question completely.
Once, I asked question about raids to one of Angels, and he told me similar thing- Just don't fight them. Show them, that you don't want to play with such players, you disagree with such play and things like that. So, if tons of RNC in Texas see no resistance from Liberty players, they should understand that all liberty players showed disrespect to them, they got no will to play with such players like they are and they don't want to fall down to your level of play.
If you think oposite- you better to play in kindergarten.

I miss the fighting spirit. I seriously do.

But ye, I see that the smug protection offered by admin word seems to work well. Okay.
I also see the only valid point of that protection which is: protecting people who simply do not want to be part of the pewing. Fine. They deserve protection.

But: if you fly an ID that is meant to pew, I find it pretty weak to lean back and say: "Nah... not now. I don't like them."

Anyway, I'll still attack overwhelming forces and still facepalm when I see "Nah, do not attack... they cannot come in here".

The only times you wanted to log without pissing yourself off was when you had enough people.
If there weren't enough you simply postponed a convoy or whatever else activities.

It's not the just the odds of the imbalanced fights,
It is more about the general attitude of the enemy and their so called 'tactics'.
Basically just like cap8 turret boats being too much most of the time for the IMG.
Sure you won a few times but the times you lost the 'sighs' I heard were quite amazing.

I have two ripostes for this thread but couldn't decide which one to post, so I'll just post both:
1. Camping Houston is not enough? Battleships can have their guns disabled by missile spam, no LNS are docked in Texas any more because of this fact. I myself managed to undock from Houston once or twice to find myself being /l1 /l2'ed by the group right next to the docking ring, so in those cases I just reverse and dock back because dying there isn't a fight, it's just a slaughter.
2. Nothing more awesome than LN defenders forming up in NY by the Texas gate, specifically being told to wait for enough people to form up with them so that they can tackle the 12 RM BS bunched up on the other side of the gate, meanwhile some indies just decide to jump in alone and just die. We should all learn from you guys. Or should I say you are the reason why most of LN sit in NY: because they can never get a group together, when a bunch of them get put out of commission before the fight even starts.

LNS doesn't have instant response time. If there are 2 dreads in NY and 3x more enemy caps in Texas, don't expect them to go and jump to just die. It's stupid to do so, in fact I would expect them to try and hold people back so they can form a proper response group. The same applies at any other capital world where there is a stalemate across a jump hole/gate.

In this context [LN] should maybe also ask themselves why they can't get enough indies to help in an organized manner, and why those indies who are online don't respect them enough to listen to their advice. Seems other people don't have that problem. Certain people do, but not everyone. Maybe ask those who manage to raise substantial forces what their "secret" is? It's not like there aren't enough people willing to play as LN...
