BH ID should not get you a BB. DE and below only I think.
Went to NY the other night and saw a BH Capwhore fleet. It was a wonder to behold. 5 or 6 of them on, only one in a bomber. Rest were in Destroyers, or larger.
I know of no military faction with comparable firepower. Its just retarded.
Does "Dog the Bounty Hunter" own the USS New Jersey? No.
IMHO:
In Short Term: Ask BH Factions/Clans to self restrict such that only 1 out of every 4 (or so) members in a BH Faction or Clan (my term for unofficial faction) on at any time are in DE or larger.
In Long Term : Change rules in next mod version, BH's restricted to DE and below. Give the larger BH caps to some other npc MILITARY factions, don't care who.
Even implement the DE or below rule NOW.
Its insane. For instance, even fighting as RM, we had an even fight going, me and Gronath in Bombers against an enemy GB, and a BH BC shows up and "helps" us. Yay. Fun. Enemy was dead in 5 seconds after numbnuts showed up.
Stop it now, Admins. PLEASE.
I totally agree with you.
I do not remember the last time ive seen a Bounty hunter in anything smaller than a gunboat and i see alot of BH's.
Theres a real problem when a bunch of independent Bounty Hunters can rally a fleet twice the size of one of the houses whenever they feel like it.
Ever since the Merc ID got changed to allow nothing above gunboat those "people" who like to cap whore just switched to a BH ID.
I have 1 capship, which is my Navy cruiser, but I don't take it out too often, I find myself on my LPI light figher more often.
This one cruiser, may be upgraded to a dreadnaught in the future (when funds AND RP allows it) but for now, it is more then enough to satisfy my capship urges, when I take it out for large fleet actions. (Like rogues/hackers attacking en-mass with tonnes of capships...)
Iâll carry this flag
To the grave if I must
Because itâs flag that I love
And a flag that I trust
I, too, find this incredibly irritating. The amount of independant cap ships "defending" Liberty nowadays is just unbelievable. One example is me (bomber) and two LR pilots (VHFs) were just wandering around Texas a couple of days ago. We then got jumped by an LSF fighter and gunboat which i didn't really mind. After all, i know they very rarely use much more than fighters so i don't really mind being jumped by the odd gunboat or so.
After we had engaged a BH BC, Liberty Cruiser and a BH BS engaged us and blasted us to little, tiny pieces. I mean really do you NEED such caps to bring down a bomber and a couple of fighters? Espescially when they're already engaged by lawfuls.
Quote:After a Discussion abaut the Flag ship,we decided that instead of one Battleship we will make 2 BattleCruisers. One the Verloc will be Commanded by the Guildkepper Max Jones and the other one Malbourne by me.One will be for Defensive and One for Offensive Operations accors Sirius Sector.
This is from Core dump. Now, i don't know how much it's related to the subject, but..
How can you have 2 flagships? Do you need 2 flags then?
Bloody BH Battlecruisers, it seems that they are too good.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
directly related: - the BHG BC are not too good. they have the average BC stats ( like the albatros ), are fairly easy to fly ( low profile ) and slow enough to make a good big target. - BC like, they have tons of energy and efficient weaponry though.
a reason why its used so much is - it can allmost match a smaller battleship, costs only 280million and requires no license. ( as opposed to 700million for a BHG battleship + 250million for the license - and the BC can basicly smoke the BHG battleship if equipped as a cap killer, due to the more efficient weaponry < the bigger the ships, the less efficient the weapons > )
do i hear battlecruiser license? - its simply the best ship in the game for the bucks it costs. ( when you compare only capital ships ) maybe the price of battlecruisers should just be increased a little to 500 million - so they fill a niche between cruisers and battleships - and thats reflected in the pricing, too.
Actually, the battleship license comes WITH the battleship. Thus costing 700m+ instead of 450m+
Anywho, a BC liscence would be absolutely fantastic! Also, maybe a rule stating that factions can only have cap ships once they reach a certain player limit. Say for example....1 cap per 10 players?
one gunship for 10 players? - thats a lot of fighters we get then.... - besides. .... again... is it about the capital ships? or is it about the players flying capital ships. - you won t get other players when you force them to fly fighters. - they just don t stand out as much as capital ships - but that won t make the play experience better.
Talking about all the one-man-battleship comedies, plus other 'unreal' or weird stuff...
Those large crafts must take some time to build (yeah, yeah, it's a game...)
The problem is... those are being bought by single individuals as if they were just shopping in the supermarket. The shipyards for those are huge, you need huge resources, and even then ... would the House state organizations take their chances with selling them to unstable individuals, when such a huge ship can cause immense civilian casualties when in the wrong hands? If I was the Navy general, I certainly wouldn't sell a Carrier to a private company, not even the Bill Gates himself or whoever is the richest in the world.
It could be a little radical, but how about restricting battleships and cruisers to official factions, where their usage can be limited by the "Gods" aka admins / "ones blessed with the Common Sense" aka faction leaders?
(might be a stupid idea, I don't even know why I wrote it when I might not like it)
Believe it or not, the next thing I'm really looking forward to do is run a BH character in a Piranha up to 30, then getting a Sea Serpent, to see things from the real side for once. I'm going to be the B.H. in a B.H. Light Fighter, and I will make money by bounty hunting only. Let's see where that takes a real Bounty Hunter for once. Care to join the B. _Hunter_ guild which brings a pack of fighters to _hunt down_ a particularly dangerous criminal?
I fail to see how can you actually hunt anything through a debris field with a battleship/cruiser. In fact, you can't hunt a lootcrate!
(except for the underrated Liberty Cruiser which is in fact a Liberty Elite High-Tech Anti-Capship Metal Stick - genuine and cool...)
I've been a pirate for quite some time (check my signature). Recently, I've started running a set of independent characters, to try the other ways to play and see things from different angles.
I found one thing: Those new people who want to fly their first battleship must be quite determined or have abundant amounts of time. Lone trading is the most boring thing I ever did... sometimes I even hire civvies off Manhattan just for amusement.
