compatibility and mining issue

Hey guys,

so im new to freelancer multiplayer n i ve been searchin these forums for answers as well as disco wiki.

Now i got one char that is a miner - Samura industries IFF, samura ID, currently bumblebee with transport mining turrets. As i understood from http://discoverygc.com/wiki in order to get a mining bonus u need to have an ID n IFF compatible and do mining with mining turrets otherwise i get 50% penalty... the wiki also says as Samura i get 3x bonus when mining platinum ore and that platinum ore has default rate "3" in Nagano. Does that mean i should mine 3 pieces of platinum ore per shot as an "ordinary miner" and 9 pieces per shot as Samura miner ? If so, why do i mine 0 - 1p / shot ? And there is also mining guide on these forums, which says i need to have a "miner ship" to do mining and that i can only mine niobium and helium3 as samura to get any bonuses ? so im kidna confused here...

I also have a combat pilot char with an Hogosha IFF and Hogosha ID... I went to Crete n bought me a titan with their equipment as well... now the thing is i ve found two tech compatibility charts (one on the wiki above, one on this forum) n they say i should have had 75% compatibility, but when i undocked, i had only 56%.
So i went to Kabukicho Depot, bought me a Black Dragon heavy fighter with equipment from the same station, dismounted everything else that werent bought in that depot - result was Hogosha ship + hogosha equipment + hogosha IFF + hogosha ID - then i undocked and guess what, my power output was reduced to 10%...

So my questions is WTF !?!

Hogosha gets 75% nerf to corsairs.
You were using a corsair ship (=75%) and corsair weapons (= 75% * 75%) thus your overall nerf was down to 56%.

The Black Dragon VHF shouldn't give a hogosha IDed ship any nerf, that would be a bug.
Are you sure you haven't got the wrong weapons equiped?



About the mining:
Normal players get a 0.5 penalty, Samura 3.0, so Samura mines 6 times as much. In your given example 1.5 to 9. However mining fields can be mined out, drastically decreasing their yield.

You were mining so less, because you were getting the 0.5 penalty since the bumblebee is not considered a mining ship for samura. You need a hegemon to mine platinum.

1) Im positive i didnt have mounted any piece of gear that wasnt hogosha (or at least it was bought on the same station as ship, so i guess it was hogosha / farmers gear)
though i still had dismounted non-hogosha equipment in my cargo - dunno if that might cause the problem o.O

i even tried to fly the ship stripped to the bone (only ID + scanner) and twas the same 90% pwr output reduction.

2) So if i wanna do some mining, i cant make any choices and everything is predefined according to what i choose to mine ? that is pretty disappointing... not to mention i have very limited cargo as a miner with that ship :/

Is it possible, at least, to mine say 1k ore > jettison > relog to char with big-ass cargo transport ship (logged out at the same coordinates) > tractor the jettisoned cargo into transport > relog to miner n repeat the process ? or does the ore disappear when i log out to switch chars ?

Currently there's a mechanism in place that prevents players from logging out in space and changing ships/accounts.

Generally speaking, the best way to transfer ore to another ship is through a player owned base - I believe the Samura player faction own one in that field. It may be worth trying to get permission to use it for your miner and trader.

1) Having hostile equipment unmounted in your inventory does not affect the power output... no clue what could cause that nerf if you were using only hogosha equipment.

2) Yes, the Hegemon is the biggest mining ship available for mineral-ore mining.

The Ore doesnt necessarily despawn, however sometimes it does. Also, the F1ed ship might "drift" several k away while not being logged, also NPCs sometimes tractor cargo.
So yea, that variant is rather risky.
