@ niezk sorry, did I forget the '/Sarcasm' at the end? my bad..... :/

It is not a good feeling to get jumped in a scimitar with a bunch of cruisers/Gunboats at the top secret base which the navy would COMPLETELY OBLITERATE if they ever 'found' it......amd in the middle of a roid field too, shows you what they have to do for sport, bounce on rocks all day to nail a LF.....

Actually the navy does know of the rogue base in the badlands. According to the rumours in the bar, the reason they don't go and destroy it, is it is far easier to pop them as they come out of the badlands, than to commit a large force to go in.

This isn't bragging, this is just informative for any capital ship lovers who happen to read this thread.
This is what one Scimitar Light Fighter, one Sabre, and one Falcata bomber can do to a Liberty Dreadnought.
(We had a gunboat early on, but it was destroyed by the cap ship along with another of our fighters. Our bomber got caught in the shockwave from the explosion. The point being, a capital ship is vulnerable to fighters in a big way.)
And since I'm posting this, great fight to the LSF and Mandalorians who were there!

well, everyone knows that ( or at least - knows it deep inside:)) - .. what surprises me more is that you were rewarded with such a beautiful fireball. - usually those ships make barely a "pffft" and vanish:laugh:.

The fact that hostile bases can't be destroyed is a limitation of the Freelancer game engine, not a sign of bad RP on the Liberty lawfuls' part.

No longer active online due to a dwindling amount of non-PvP (trading, pirating, mining, etc.) fun in the new version.

Which means it's everyones duty to fulfill RP as best possible. Since the base can't be destroyed, it should be avoided, to avoid this RP-breaking problem. As mb52 said, the Liberty doctrine is to stay out of the badlands. So if RP is important at all to you, then quit ruining everyones day and stay out of the fricken badlands.

I used to chase pirates into the badlands/debreas fields, but I've since decided its not worth the resources/aggravation.

Just like the battle at rochester, I wanted to wait at the edge of the debrea and wait for the pirate fleet to come out, but all the others were already in, and engaging.. so I was forced to enter..

Main reason there was I needed room to maneuver and fire the primary gun on my cruiser.. but I guess the debreas helped by keeping the enemy battleship still...

It boils down to who calls the shots, the official faction or the independents? The LSF, SA or LPI factions should have the ultimate authority to decide whether to engage, and the indies should listen to those factions, if people want to call the shots, then they join the factions.
New York is not the only system which faces problems from cap ship outfitted indies, the corsairs also suffer from this and countless other factions besides. The simple fact is half of the indie cap spammers have never and will never post on thse forums unless they get sanctioned.
The only thing to do then is to do as the RM and question anyone who is not correctly tagged and ID'd, this doesn't mean that every indie should be treated as a mercenary, if they have House specific IDs treat them as reserves, to be called in when needed, not as soon as a battle starts. If control can't be established at the start of battle then censure them after the fact and apologise to whichever party got screwed over by the independents.

I think we (SA, the future LN) should actively encourage independents to join us with benefits like financial support. Just a thought.
