I made the adjustments and the resolution and HUD shifted correctly. However, for some reason, my fonts are humongous. It seems to be throwing off my power indicator bars off just a bit. Any ideas?
yes use the build-in mod hudshift instead of this.

Hi, I have done everything exactly as stated in the op and it looks amazing but the rp 24/7 server auto kicks me for possible cheating so I cannot connect.
I removed the jflp.DLL and tried just using the hudshift since I figure that's what's causing the kick but now my screen is way out of whack. Is there another way to get 1920x1080 res without being kicked?

At the end of your Discovery Freelancer's desktop shortcut's target, add -dx.
This tutorial is severely outdated. The only two things you need to do is copy HudShift.ini from the discovery exe folder to data -> interface folder and modify the resolution aspect ratio in that .ini file. Something like this example:
(The original HudShift.ini file that came with Discovery install)
Remove this icon > ; < before HUDshift and save the file.
The second thing that you can do is modifying the PerfOptions. Scroll down in the .ini file when you see Display change your resolution to what you screen has, example:
Or add -dx in your Freelancer shotcut. You don't need to do that if you already have changed your PerfOptions.
This is my install directory, yours can be differed:
