Subject: Patrol report; Kusari citizen in Bretonia
Gentlemen,
as I was on patrol in New London today with Sergeant Vimes and Constable Roxburg, we encountered several suspicious individuals.
First, there was the vessel Hell*Blazer, using a trader ID, but flying a Corsair Titan!
We asked that man where and how he got that ship. He told us that he was in Omicron Gamma with his Starflier when he remembered he always wanted a better ship. According to his story, the docking rings of Planet Malta were unguarded and he managed to sneak in and steal a Titan.
Now, I maybe never got out of Bretonia, but I sure now when something smells fishy! Since that man had not been reported breaking any laws, we convinced him into leaving Bretonia space as soon as possible.
The next pilot we met was an even stranger sight: Ethil, a Wyrm light fighter, flying with a Kusari State Police IFF!
He told us he was a loyal friend of our Queen that prefers Kusarian vessels. Allegedly, he hacked his Neural Net and stole that Wyrm from a Kusarian battleship. The vessel itself was equipped with Kusarian guns only.
We couldn't possibly trust that pilot, he could just as well be an impudent enemy spy!
I figured it would be meaningless to let him go back to Kusari, he would just deliver any information he collected in our space. But letting him fly in Bretonia was out of question as well. Roxburg, Vimes and myself went for the only possibility: escort that man to one of the independent systems between Bretonia and Liberty.
There, he can prove his words by working against criminals and for our Queen. And should he choose to come back without having changed his ways - well, he really should have a better story by then.
We escorted him out to the Cortez gate in Manchester where he promised to become a loyal servant of our Queen. Hopefully, he won't break that promise.

Fellow officers,
I'm sorry to report our failure to guard the prison transport LPI-Alcatraz, which was deporting high-ranking convicted Lane Hackers from Newgate Prison to Liberty. Sgt. Cooper, Sgt. Barclay, Const. Roxburg and I were assigned to meet the transport at Newgate Prison and provide its security there. We all arrived just when the LPI-Alcatraz was beginning the loading process and we took our positions around the prison. With our intelligence that the Lane Hackers would attempt to free their people, we prepared ourselves for the worst. It didn't relieve us to see multiple Hackers in the neighbouring Magellan system on our scanners also...
The LPI-Alcatraz was still fueling its engines, when the Hackers actually entered Manchester. They passed by Sheffield Station and disabled its security systems. Unfortunately, just in this moment, Sgt. Barclay's Arrow Interceptor had a system malfunction and his navigation systems were totally disabled. She had to dock at Newgate and we lost a valuable pilot before the fight even started. Never fly something that didn't come from our royal shipyards, I guess.
The Lane Hackers approached us and demanded the handover of their pilots and threatened to kill us otherwise. Obviously, servants of the Queen won't bow to such low threats and we prepared for an engagement. The Hackers engaged immediately and a fight enraged in middle of the minefield!
We ordered the LPI-Alcatraz to use this distraction to run, but it seems the Hackers had already disabled its navigation computers with a virus. So we had to stay for the fight: 3 BPA Hussars against a Hacker Scimitar and 3 Slipstreams..
At first, the fight seemed to be in our favour, as we soon managed to down the Hacker Scimitar by rushing him into the mines. But the remaining pilots were a tough nut to crack.. They focused on Sgt. Cooper and eventually destroyed his ship. Luckily, Newgate retrieved his rescue pod immediately. With only 2 Hussars
remaining, we couldn't manage to attack them effectively and Const. Roxburg's Hussar fell victim to their fire as well. Seeing that there was no point in continuing the battle, I sped towards New London to call for reinforcements..
Unfortunately, there were no forces dispatchable and I had to witness the hijack of the LPI-Alcatraz powerlessly.
From the last intercepted transmissions from the LPI-Alcatraz, I assume its current location to be near "Mactan Base" in the Magellan system... Wherever "Mactan" may be.
I'm truly sorry for our failure and I suggest to forward a full report of this incident to our colleagues in Liberty, along with an official apology.
On another note, and on a more successful matter:
Earlier that evening, I was looking for Humphrey Burlington, our prime suspect in the tragic murder of Commissioner Carlyle. According to our latest informations, he was seen in the Cumbria field in New London.
And indeed, when I arrived there, I picked him up on my scanners immediately. He seemed to have seen me as well and enabled quickly his cruise engines. I reacted and set myself up for a pursuit. Strangely, he didn't run to the nearby Dublin jumphole, where I'd expect a Molly to flee to... Instead, he was on target for Leeds. I was on his tail anyways, and followed him to the Leeds system. In the West Leeds cloud, he managed to extend his lead and was speeding towards.. Magellan! Luckily, a nearby patrol intercepted him with a cruise disruptor and I was able to catch up. After several unanswered attempts to convince him to come with me, I engaged his Bloodhound and destroyed it. I captured his pod and brought him to our station on Planet Leeds, where he is on remand right now. Our investigation team there will be dealing with him, when he recovers from his minor injuries.
However, Burlington was in possession of another artifact, similiar to which was found next to Carlyle. Actually, it seems that the two artifacts are fitting together perfectly. But it seems that there are still some parts missing, if the artifacts are just parts of a greater... object. I have retrieved it from the wreck of Burlington's ship and handed it over to our forensics team.
The questions are accumulating.. What are these artifacts? Why is a Molly trying to flee to Magellan, a known Hacker system? And what's with the high Hacker activity in Bretonia lately? Maybe the interrogation of Burlington will bring some insights.
Well, I will rest the case for today, I really need a break after this evenful day...
Vimes out.
But the Raven, sitting lonely on that placid bust, spoke only
That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour.
Nothing further then he uttered; not a feather then he fluttered--
Till I scarcely more than muttered, "Other friends have flown before--
On the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before."
<blockquote>Then the bird said, "Nevermore."</blockquote>

Subject: Gaian arrested
Gentlemen,
as I could leave the hospital after yesterday's battle with the Lane Hackers, I got contacted by Sergeant Vimes to join him on his daily patrol. I went to the hangars to find my new Hussar fighter, refilled the tea reserves and took off.
As we entered Leeds, we encountered nothing less but a Red Hessian cruiser, DAGGER, fully outfitted and shooting at anything moving. We asked him about his intentions and ordered him to leave Bretonia at once. The cruiser captain seemingly didn't care to reply and just took off to Dublin via the jump hole. Impudent bandit!
After that incident, we heard the system comms being used for piracy! One of the radical Gaians, Miss Clover Tate in her Griffin Clover was in Leeds, threatening harmless traders! We rushed to the scene and found the culprit with several of our comrades in her hold:
As she was unwilling to release them and posed a threat to any civilian in system, we engaged after a short conversation. Not long until the Gaian was out of repair bots and started to run. Unfortunately, our cruise disrupters did not do their work, so we engaged cruise as well and followed the criminal.
We split into two, Sgt. Vimes flying behind her, I was taking the next lane to Edinburgh, dropped out and cut of the lane in order to stop the enemy. Now, she ran to Dublin where she headed north, away from any populated areas.
She claimed to "fly all the way to Islay without any jump gate or hole" but we knew that wouldn't happen - sooner or later, she would go for the Edinburgh jump hole. As expected, the Griffin turned and we - since we anticipated it - closed our distance to approximately 800m.
The distance to the jump hole was still 30k. We plotted a way to stop Clover before that: Sergeant Vimes would kill his engines, maintaining his speed, and fire a cruise disrupter. I'd stay in cruise - in case it would not work - we would repeat the manoeuvre after Vimes had caught up.
No need to repeat it though. It worked at the first try.
We succesfully destroyed the ship and collected the pods of our comrades and Clover's pod.

Gentlemen,
I am glad to announce that Constable Trevelyan has succesfully joined our forces and is now outfitted with everything needed but the Armor Upgrade and the Nuclear Mine Launcher. As well, we had quite a crew out in space today, and, luckily, were flying with our dear Captain Scott again!
Anyways, no patrol without incidents, as it seems.
This time, there was a Kusari Cruise Liner (a.k.a. Beetle), named KOTEK and a Raven's Talon, named Astharon, flying together. The Liner had a trader ID, the Talon used a civilian identification.
What caught our attention was not only the ship of Kusari origin, but the fact that the Astharon used Kusarian weapons only.
We had to ask several times until the two of them finally shut down their engines. When asking what their intentions in Bretonia space where, Astaroth claimed the KOTEK to be a ship, steered by an AI (hence no communication possible), both of them working for Samura and "just passing through".
As we heard "Samura", we saw our suspicion proved. Those were Kusarian spies! When ordered to immediately return, the KOTEK energized it's engines and jumped to New London.
I was chasing it with Constable Paddock, followed by Astaroth that said it was an "AI malfunction".
Paddock took up the chase of the KOTEK and I disrupted the trade lane entrance behind him, to keep the talkative part of that team with me. Unfortunately, he seemed to keep his rather rude attitude and, as I disrupted his cruise when he wanted to get away, attacked me with full force, just to flee directly after it.
I followed him and asked him to tell me the entire story, but he refused to listen and got away with strange codes as "lol" and "rofl" between his provoking words.
The KOTEK got away to Cortez, out of our jurisdiction.
I suggest we put those Kusarian spies on our watch list, as they not only disobey any order given by a Bretonian Constable or Sergeant, no, they even go as far and attack our vessels. On top of that, my concerns are that the "AI ship" maybe was a drone, collecting information for the enemy empire!

I dare say, its good to be back in the skies with my constables and sargeants! First thing I did was gobble my tea and biscuits, spilled some on my computer, had to get out the fire extinguisher...I was a bit rusty with my flying so I ask Constable Paddock and Sargeant Vimes to train with me. It was them two versus me, Paddock, if you are reading this, work on your strafing as I had no trouble hitting you. Vimes, you did excellent, to bad your onboard computer was malfunctioning.

Today on patrol I was alerted to two Outcast gunboats in Cambridge. I launched my bomber and they moved to New London! A Repex trader contacted me and told me they were hunting him...atrocious! I headed to New London along with a QCP bomber. We found one of them off the trade lane from the Cambridge jumpgate to Planet New London. We gave him ample time to leave, and he refused. We both engaged and destroyed him quickly. We tractored in his escape pod. and were about to take him home when the other Outcast contacted us and said he wanted his "Arrchon" back. We accepted and gave his commander and his co-pilot back to the Outcast. He then left without incident.
After this I helped train Constable Trevelyan, and I must say he did well after I taught him the basics. I expect he will do well in the future.

Men,
Due to the brave actions of Mr. Vimes, the wanted criminal, Humphrey Burlington has been captured!
Burlington has begun his recovery, and we will be able to interrogate him soon. In addition, Mr. Vimes found this artifact on Burlington:
NSY Forensics teams say that it matches almost exactly with the other piece of the artifact, which was found at the site of Commissioner Carlyle's murder.
I hope that we can piece this together. I have decided to allow each member of our division(//you guys) to ask Burlington a question during the interrogation process once he is recovered enough from his injuries.
Excellent work with you relentless pursuit of the safety of the Bretonian populace, even when such events are happening!
I am glad to hear that Mr. Gideon Trevelyan is progressing along well, along with Mr. John Grey. I hereby authorize they receive their Mark VIII's as soon as possible. If the necessary funds are unavailable, you know who to ask.

Subject:Strange Day In Leeds
My god, this has been a strange day. I started my patrol out to Leeds because there was a report of a pirate there. Lo and behold he is sitting right next to Leeds in an Outcast bomber. I ordered him to leave, he fired on me, bad choice. I engaged and was easily out manuvering him with backup on the way in the form of a Mandalorian gunship. Instead a freelancing fighter helped me finish him off.
As I fought with the freelancer I noticed he was using Nomad guns. I told him of our policies, he declined and left to Kusari. I am sorry, I didn't get his name written down.
Now, for my complaint about the Hussar. Its water protection systems are terrible! Just after the freelancer left I spilled some tea on my computer. I got the fire extinguisher as my ship started to catch on fire, it didn't have any fluid! I quickly sat back down and ejected as my ship exploded! Superintendant Lauderdale, sir, I hereby request that the Hussar's computer systems be refitted with better water resistant materials.
Lastly, a trader, Trader_SKI to be excact came by Leeds. I stopped him for a routine scan, and found all kinds of Corsair weapons equipped on him. I questioned him and he said he worked for the NovaPG. He then told me he had no trade route. He was obiously lying so I told him to dock on Leeds to submit for further questioning or drop all his Corsair weapons. He docked on Leeds but then he disappeared! I was so shocked I feel out of my seat. I suggest he be put on our blacklist for disobeying an officer and supporting the enemy.
Another thing, could someone please get me up to speed on the murder of Mr. Carlyle? I have read as much as possible, perhaps someone could meet me at Christy's to explain a bit more, I hear there is a questioning session coming up for the suspect in his murder, Humphrey Burlington? I need to be ready to throw him so real hard questions. Also these strange artifacts, what is the latest on them?

At the current time we do not have a solution to your problem, I'm afraid. But after hearing your loss, a fellow knight of the kingdom, Sir Andrew Stuart, sent me top secret blueprints to a secret hi-tech contraption that Ageria Technologies has been developing.
According to Sir Andrew, he often uses these contraptions when hosting parties in his luxurious cell in the New Tower of London...
Well, here it is:
Due to the dangers experienced by spilled drinks, I am requiring all BPA officers use ISSPDAs from now on.

Have been practicing maneuvers. I must warn you not to attempt an ekill/vertical reverse while utilizing the prescribed ISSPDA. The consequences were...unfortunate.
I am retiring now and heading for the infirmary. I shall return for patrol tomorrow.
