The 14 Sept was okay but a lot of people started playing back in august and the date set for this rollback is 14 Aug. As such, people who started between these two dates a) weren't aware of the update for at least 2 weeks of game time and b) have now lost everything.
Edit - To Black Widow
The first 30 newbies who started playing discovery on or after the 14th of August are entitled to a 10 mil party cash bonus to get things going they just need to apply here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=105582
As for anyone who is gonna loose big I feel sorry for them.......
Yeah. It's a nice gesture, truly. But unfortunately there are people who are out the equivalent of 1bn SC as a result.
tl:dr - Personally since that date I returned to disco and had accumulated about 2 5k tranny, 2 cruisers and a fair few other assets (adding up to roughly 1bn) like mining ships etc from just playing for ages straight. This is the issue people are referring to i think, where I am seriousl reconsidering starting again. Not that anyone wants my sob story but just trying to get the perspective across.
Short version - people have stuff, people did lots for stuff, stuff goes poof, sad people, no play FL.
Set up a funding party. Those vets who have billions can always offer a few mil to the nublets.

I agree with the above post. 10M is simply not enough. What I will be losing are a CAU8 Valor (worth more than 1 billion), a CAU4 Guard repped Vidar (worth about 400M), a CAU8 on my Liberty Dread (900M), a CAU5 Guard repped sair Osiris, a bunch of fighters (about 100M total, not including codename weapons), an a Barge. Not to mention about 500M in cash.
The rollback date is August 10th, to end any possible confusion.
In any case it's just pixel money and pixel items, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. It's hardly peak hours and I see about fifty members browsing the forums. If all of 'em got ingame once the rollback is up instead of complaining about virtual stuff you've lost, I bet you'd all have a fun time interacting with each other now that .87 is officially really out.
There is a chance that the devteam and/or staff may do something to take the edge off a bit, but don't quote me on that. Nothing is set in stone right now.
Well, good question indeed - if there would be a rollback on February 1st 2011, back to January 1st 2011, during the period I was grinding cash like no tomorrow, after just joining the discovery - I definitely wouldn't be here today.
So it's sort of "delete cheated stuff and lose some new players who didn't even have the idea of what was going on" vs "don't delete cheated stuff and don't lose these players".
I guess administration team made their decision. Although, some compensation for people who joined in and grinded stuff during that time, and now lost everything they have - would be good, imho - after all, I doubt there would be more than few tens of them.
It'd definitely require some RL time from administration team, but the newbies I'm talking could've lost incomparably more time (in some cases, possibly more time for a single person than total time it'd take to go through those 20-30 people). So no, it's not about pixels.
Veterans can cope with losing a billion or two, on the other hand, I bet, so we don't see complaints about this rollback from players who have been here for 2+ years.

Well the 10 mill is only an incentive to noobies who joined after the rollback date to start again with a little help, it won't solve everyone's problems but it will help some.
For vets like yourself who have been on here longer you will just have to contact adims and appeal to them direct.
Remember 10 mill handouts for 30 players is a lot of money to be giving away as Gateway gets nothing tangible in return for it.

Explained it in the beta release didn't it? note this is from the 15th of september 2013

And so we did, with the betatestcash as a restart added afterwards we all had a lot of fun.

How exactly are you losing a barge? If you bought it off another player after 10th August, then it will probably have been given back to the original player, whom you can just pay over to get back. As for all those other ships you claim to have made and will lose. Was all of that cash earned between 10th August and 15th September?
If so, that sure is commitment, however it had even been stated before then that there would possibly be a roll-back. Infact ever since bases were taken offline it had been said that a rollback was possible, hence why I haven't been making any money since the beginning of August, maybe July even.
