My point zero, zero, zero two cents on the subject is:

It would be nice to have a list of fines for a broken rule. I hope that our Admins do have some kind of fine list to by. For example, in USA there is a fine printed under some stop signs. Lets say, a STOP sign and below is: 435 Fine.

I am pretty sure our admins know which rules are broken the most. I would assume those are: engagement, oorp, coarse language. But whatever those rules maybe, it would be nice to have a fine list so people know what is going to hit them, when they say something or do something illegal.

Another example:
Using Coarse Language: 1st offense ......, 2nd offense .....
Re-Engaging: 1st offense...., 2nd offense .....

I imagine that fines would increase for repetitive offenders.

I know i am dreaming right now, but it would be nice to have like a constitution kind of thing created. I can even create the paper image on which we can write those fines, in cursive font. Just an idea.

^^^^ I agree with the above completely. We need to know what is going to hit us should we break the rules.

Also, with regard to the original topic there needs to be some sort of DUE PROCESS when prosecuting people for rule-breaking and I believe the evidence should be PUBLICLY available so that the community can see what amount of evidence can be used to incriminate them. This transparency in the sanction process will do two things; firstly, admins will be seen and held accountable for their actions regarding sanctions and any "fishy" sanctions and secondly, we will have a great deal more trust in the sanction system and ultimately the amount of support towards admins will increase (as of late many questionable sanctions have lead to a dip in the trust and respect given to admins). That's my two cents.

Makc: such a list exists, it just isn't publicly available because it doesn't need to be. There can be mitigating or further incriminating circumstances in any situation that the admin team can use to judge any deviation from them, just as even RL court rulings do.
Knowing exactly what you're facing and developing the sort of attitude that you can "take a two day ban for a really good troll post" or "losing my guns to win a fight" is not a situation I'd like to see.

Evidence being kept between the reporter, violator and admin/mod team has already been covered above.
I'd personally have a little 'necessary mistrust of your overlords' than allowing witch-hunts and mob mentality over every sanction.

What I am not satisfied with in the current system that reporters get no technical feedback regarding their reports in case they weren't processed/the reported didn't get sanctioned. What I mean by this is that we are all humans, and while we file a report trying our best to use the templates and provide sufficient evidence, we might make mistakes, resulting in no action taken. If such happens to me, I would like to know what was wrong with my report, because while I couldn't improve some things (e.g. plenty of evidence describing the situation, but lack of evidence to prove guiltiness), I bet I certainly could improve on certain things (e.g. quality of report/template usage, lack of evidence describing the situation, etc.), and if something, at least this could be educational. I believe that improvement regarding the quality of sanctions would be in favor of both admins and players. My two cents. Counter-arguments are welcome.

I must say the whole "sanction notices" part of the forums feels really odd to me. While it is stated what game rule has been broken by the player, there's no mention of evidence, and we don't know how the player's guiltiness was decided. In such a case, you cannot possibly make such calls and expect people from various opinions to agree with them wholeheartedly.

So... why make them public in the first place ? If anyone can be reported and sanctioned, well, okay, that's how it goes. But since the admins, the reporter and the reported are pretty much the only ones concerned, along with maybe some witnesses, why allow other people to see what sanction has been taken ? If the sanction is effective enough, it'll be the end of it, and it won't affect other people.

However, reputation does matter a lot to many people there, especially since it's a RP community, and a rather small one at that. If you strip someone of their guns and money, you apply a written rule, wich is fine, but in doing so it also reflects on how other people will see them, and I don't think that should be part of the sanction. Besides, forum laws can be abused, and I don't believe simply warning people not to post when they shouldn't is gonna work, which could lead to some unwanted bad-mouthing.

It's just how I feel about it. Since so much is decided through PMS and admins, there's no point in showing us the end result, especially because there's no transparency, no way of telling what actually happened except through the comments of some disgruntled/pleading forumers.

I don't care that much about the rules and sanction system, but this publicity just feels out of place and unfair.

I think I took a wrong turn at Palshife.

there are two sides to each story - and they are both right.

there is no such thing as 100% certainty, only beyond reasonable doubt. I've been here for 5 years, and never been sanctioned. the system works well, and there are times when the sanctions are reversed. What doesn't work is having a pissy fit at the admins in the thread. sanction processing times are long. what you propose is to create more work for admins.

if everybody obeyed rule 0.0 then there would be no need for a sanction process at all. we need less stick and more carrot

suggest the 'honorarium award' system. post screenies of excellent behaviour, outstanding RP and considerate gamesmanship (in other words an upgrade of the kudos thread), and instead of the admins having to remove equipt/cash, they get to give it instead. wouldn't that be a better way of encouraging good behaviour?

-We could also implement browny points for getting too deep into admin's ....good side.
