Putting a hand on her hip, sighing quietly to herself, seeming to be debating something internally. "Its a rather long story.. I may have seemed like a cold, heartless person at times with no real care for anyone except for myself, and that is honestly mostly true. Although, I do have one person who that does not apply to. I'm going to skip the details, as i'd rather not let myself become emotional in-front of you right now." Indeed looking a bit wary, her confident tone wavering slightly. Although perhaps this was not the full reason for skipping the details.
"She needs a place to stay.. At least temporary, I am not able to watch over her the entire time as I have things I am rather obligated to do for both of our safety, and she is rather young at the age of thirteen to be doing anything alone.. That, and i'm sure as hell not going to let her get involved with the wrong people. I'm leaving things out, as you've probally figured out in that head of yours, and I ask you not probe too deeply."
"Like I said. A burden that you will get nothing out of. If you are to decline, please do so. Don't leave me hanging."
You somehow expect me to tell you why I am doing something? Can nobody have their own secret intentions that don't have to be revealed to the public, except for in an aside done to the crowd of the play? All will be revealed in time, my friend.
Also, just as a side note, you can't have any of this.
She gestures her hands to point towards her whole body, dressed in a slim cocktail dress.
If you truly must know, I am interested in your people for your way of life. You see, my history has influenced me into living a pretty eccentric lifestyle, but hating the boundaries it provides. You people provide both: a way I want to live and the freedom to do whatever the hell I want, when I want.
Jack still looks rather concerned, scratching his head.
"Secrets are fine and all, i'm pretty sure one hundred percent of us around here harbor a few, although you're not really putting up a good argument for convincing me to accept you into our little society. 'I' am the Commonwealth right now, and I refuse to put the Commonwealth into a stupid situation because we have someone who for all I know, may be causing trouble."
Taking another sip of his drink.
"Although, I admit, I do like your yearning of being able to do what you want, when you want. Again, most of us are here because we have that option, of course regulated to a small extent to make sure we don't lose the Commonwealth's excellent name we have out. Convince me is all I ask. You have been putting forth a few threats of bad things perhaps happening in the future, and I don't buy it. I don't take well to that kind of stuff, I don't see a good argument to let you get your way right now my dear."
Taking a breath, to organize his final thoughts in his head.
"Our way of life is rather free. Thats why we can all live in peace, despite our differences. But I will not allow it to fall apart. Tell me more about yourself, rather than us telling more about 'ourselves' or i'll have to say goodbye my dear. I am afraid attempting to manipulate us, or myself in any way will probably prove ineffective. We've done it enough in our lifetime to be able to pick it out, just a warning if you decide to try to do such in the future. I may appear right now as not the most well liked because what I have to say, but that's the way things go i'm afraid. I'm rather blunt right now, and I apologize, although i'd rather not beat around the brush about what i'm thinking, and be honest with you. Convince me. Please."
Anne continues to smile, curling a finger up Jack's chin.
If you want me to convince you, you'll have to do better than that. Just let me in and you'll see the plethora of benefits I provide you. How about if I absolve those threats, dear? Let's just make it where I want to get in and if I don't, then I'll just leave. Will that make you happy?
Anne takes a sip of her water and sets the glass down on the bar counter.
I am not manipulating you in any way. I simply want to be a part of what you are already a part of. Once the door is open, I'm yours to command. The history you want to know of is not in any way entertaining or interesting. I'm a simple girl from a simple world, hoping to find the kind of life that I've always dreamed of.
If you really need convincing, ask me some questions so I know what to go on.
Jack doesn't respond to the physical contact, sighing, shaking his head. Learning forward, he firmly states. "My dear, the threats are empty correct. Why give them to begin with then?. Our commonwealth works well together, contrary to how it seems. I don't want to command you, does it look like I run around ordering people what to do? I'm not interested if you think that people want to use you, as we do not. We allow people into our Commonwealth for a very different reason. Because people need a place to be, that they are different than everyone else."
Moving himself away from her slightly. "You seem to fit that quite well, however.. Your attitude on how you think 'we' are, how we would allow you within our ranks because of your skills, how we will 'let you get your way'.. You're begging my dear. Perhaps some of the things you say perhaps are true, however your presentation is not something I don't necessarily like."
"We don't allow beggars into our society my dear, we choose who we are present around. We don't allow others to decide for us. I asked you one simple thing, 'Convince me' and you seem to have failed to do such so far. I'm not going to tell you what I want. You are rather smart, i'm sure you can figure out what I need to hear.
Don't think i'm going tough on you, I can assure you Robert and Achillie would be doing the exact same thing. So don't hate me for this."
Doctor Devious stomps back into the bar, a new datapad in hand. He makes his way to the bar and, still occasionally muttering things as he looks around the room at the various occupants. He finds an empty stool at the bar, trying to sit a few with his coat getting in the way each time. He grabs his coat so that the third time, he can actually manage to take a seat at the bar. He puts this datapad face down on the table, and takes his gloves off, setting them on the datapad.
Sitting at the bar, he looks around, realizing that in all his life he has never even bothered to read about anything more than the medical effects of alcohol. "What to pick?" and "How do I pronounce that?" abounds in his mind as he tried to figure out what exactly to say.
"Why?" he asks himself, with no context given to the outside world.
He looks around to try to find out where the bartender is, and places his head down on the table. He makes a motion with his hand that he saw in a movie once, trying to signal 'someone' for a drink. All the while, deathly hoping that nobody actually asks him 'what' he wants to drink.
Robert's eyes widened, perplexed, startled and insidiously surprised as the resonating words exuded out by Susan made their way throughout his auditory system, fornicating the very walls of his eardrums as his eyes enlarged more and more as if they were on an impractical endeavour of attaining the size of wheels propelling a noble carriage.
The favour Susan asked assaulted him with a ludicrous plethora of thoughts and feelings of any kind. Describing them one by one would prove a futile ordeal that would conclude with the destruction of the universe before one could actually finish this entirely trivial task.
As professional diplomatic as he was, though, he managed not to let his own mind devoured by the excitement, madness and fornications of these thoughts in a voracious feast of metaphysical entities. Instead, as always, he made order through chaos not only in the real life he was drenching his feet through, but also inside his mind.
" May you tell me her name, her real name, biensur. If I would have to accept such a favour I am certain of the fact that I am entitled to know about her, and what I choose to know is the truth. " he told her, absent of any peculiar expression as he was mere moments ago, and intuiting a possible contrivance of Susan's to lie him. After all, it would be a tactic he'd undertake as well

Susan crosses her arms, looking like she is regretting this more and more with each second. "Her name.. Her name is Ivy Snow, horrid last name.. It has so much irony. I'm asking you this of all people because I know how you operate.. You will keep your word, granted you'll find any loopholes if you see fit, although.. I honestly don't know too many people that I have a remote chance of trusting, and things cannot just keep going the way they are now."
Mumbling something afterwards, her gaze looking to the ground. "What else do you want then."
Receding slightly into her mind, as if trying to get away from the situation she was currently in. Although there was no physical changes other than perhaps her tone getting a little softer. Something done with practice perhaps.
" So, allow me the liberty of fully comprehending the proposition you lay before you. " he said, not paying particular attention to Susan's change in tone.
" I understand that... you desire that girl, Ivy Snow, to be adopted by the d'Autoine, am I right, cheri?
