I agree, do not give CD, leave them as they are, a heavy armored/armed cargo transport. They are unique this way, giving some spice to those (signature) ships. With CDs and nerfs (removal of GB turrets), we'd just get a transport type which we already have: how will they be different from a BWT or a Firefly?
and I hardly doubt a player could not find an other player to help him with CD-ing if he does piracy.
Can't say too much about the Salvager because i never get used to it, but the Raba was a perfectly balanced ship in 4.85 and i was shocked when i heard about the change. I did use it a lot for piracy both solo and with a few buddy's around. So give back! Especially the Farmers Alliance don't have many options for a cool solo piracy tranport. Dunno how the Big Dragon works these days. Was also cool for piracy but the Raba was always the first choice for FA / Hog players.

Missing CD were always a fair drawback on them. Just imagine that power and tanking ability with decent cargo going solo pirate traders. Why do we have Pirate Transports then? This ship is exactly for the solo piracy.
Huh? Tell a Farmer that he should use a P Trans. Even Corsairs weren't happy with that ship. That's why they have the dunnothenamerightnow corsair p trans now.

My opinion: Giving a CD to the Raba would not benefit the hogosha and piracy much more than it does now, without a cd on it.
Yes yes yes, but the Raba is not only for the Hogosha. But also for the Farmers Alliance. And where is it builded and where do you buy the ship? Last time i checked at Cape Soya. A FA base.

I see that the FA would have a different range of uses for the transport than the hogosha, and that their activity would benefit from an autonomous piracy transport vessel. The place were they are built or sold is not a factor for their capabilities and balance though.
I support that the potential use of the Raba by the Farmers be taken into consideration, perhaps in equal or greater consideration than the hogosha use. I would wish that the potential change would not be too penalizing for the latter one.
I am not really sure what to suggest at the moment in regards to the ships, but I did have an idea. What if they did get a CD mount, but their cruise speed was lowered to say 340? It would make it so that they could engage in piracy alone, but their chances of success are still not as high as having a dedicated interceptor with them.
Personally speaking as a long time salvager pilot I would like it to NOT have a cruise disruptor slot. Although I would like to see it made more like the Zoner whale in that it could only be used for Junkers. I have never been happy with the way a generic FL ID can fly it. After all isn't it supposed to be a Junker toy to compensate for the no capital ship stuff.
As far as I'm aware, Freelancers flying the Salvager would be subject to some pretty intense scrutiny from any Junker they met based on the supposed exclusivity that the infocard states, anyway. Landing on a Junker base? Big no-no, unless you have a real good reason for piloting the ship in the first place. "I stole it" is gonna land you in real trouble.
Regarding the cruise disruptor issue, I'd say go for it, though only for the Raba. It's quite big and turns rather slowly for a small transport, so it's not gonna have that big of an advantage against smaller targets if they get past the front of it. Most bigger ships struggle against most pirate ships anyway, and it's only a glorified transport-frigate anyway, not a real gunboat, and it's got rather low cargospace for a cargo pirate's liking. Sure, more space for armor, but with the transport shields... The Hogosha and Alliance could use the extra activity, too. Never hurts with a bit more variety on the pirate ship side either.
The Salvager, on the other hand... Never actually been bothered by what I'm pirated by, since most things outpower the average transport anyway, at least in terms of firepower. Since it's meant to be exclusive to the Junkers, it's sort of balanced by their ID restrictions on piracy, and any other users who use it for piracy would find themselves unable to dock on pretty vital Junker bases quickly. I'd say it'd be up to the Congress to decide if they want it in the first place, however. If the Salvagers suddently become potential pirates, the lawfuls might take an even bigger interest in the Junker activity in their systems.

Yeah. fair enough. We need a good decision for both the Hogs and the FA. It's their ship after all. But right now i have no clue why the old 4.85 Raba would penalize the Hogosha RP/player base.
Anyways, if i remember correctly you are also in the Kusari blossom chat. So we can and we should continue this discussion in skype because it's a bit offtopic i guess. And we all know aerelm likes off topic discussions....
Well as I am almost always in a Salvi, I could utterly care less about a CD (Ive never used one in any ship) if it does anything to the ship nerf wise, so if the price for a CD is the ship gets nerfed, keep the CD
I vote no, the most beneficial aspect to these two ships are their potential ability to dock at neutral selling points - it saves a lot of FR5 trouble by these transports being in more of a support role than direct (solo) assailants.
