You should consider the possibility, that those who dock do not wish to give reason for so called PvP aces to shove that blue message down someone's throat.
I think the true question here is recognizing the difference of "you should not be afraid of losing" and "You deserve to lose if you are crap".
That is the vibe I get from this whole discussion.

I've been in [KNF] and got my behinds wiped plenty of times by ]bd[ in all sorts of fights. Never stopped me from entering more of them.
I also find behavior like this discouraging for said "PvPwhores" to join such factions, who just leave at the glimpse of a fight.
I get involved in fights when they turn up (by the way I am not in the BAF, I just used it as an example), but when your side loses quite heavily and you are the one of the few left around from your side, I see no problem in running and docking in a no win situation. I don't do this to 'upset' the opposition but to 'get out of Dodge' alive. I generally enjoy the fights but I know when I am outgunned and outclassed.
'I would like to be half as clever as some people like to believe they are' Life is full of disappointments, it is how we handle them that helps to define us, as a person
You know, this whole thing wouldn't even be a discussion if not for the fact that a lot of people are utter twats when they are on the ''right'' side of the blue message.

"it is well performed RP for me to safely dock my ship" - silent docker
point 2 - people here are little bitches, basically. unless anything changed, which i doubt. i imagine they realise that they lost ( which i find rather odd - why not give it a shot, anyway? ) and just want to make the winner feel a tiny bit more bitter by not giving them that fight. play space shooter sim, do not want to shoot in space. *shrug*
It's too late. You've awakened the gazebo. It catches you and eats you.

Fair enough I guess.
Again, people take this thread to the wrong direction. I didn't mean it to go in that vibe at all Spazzy. I just wondered. I know plenty of people who wouldn't mind dying in a fight, and a plenty who would.
But this made me curious on a rather basic level, since I honestly didn't see the difference between the two. Made me reconsider my perspective on the matter, at least from an inRP side.
@Spazzy, which "right" the direction or the attitude? 8|

That's at least for the ooRP side of it.
Yes, but you can not assume that everybody feels or thinks the same. Just because it does not spoil the fun for you does not mean it does not spoil the fun for other players.

I realize that alone, thank you very much.
The whole purpose of the thread is to show me others' opinions and reasoning, some raised here relevant points, others gave out excuses that I find... uh, how to say, a bit too less of "this is just a bloody game"
I always have valued myself as a average-below-average PVPer, but I do think that I am skilled enough to at least minimize the count of me being on the wrong side of the blue message. And yes, I do regard it as a skill. Knowing how to run away, where to go to lose the enemy pursuit or just docking. If the guy shooting me is mad, I won regardless.
And that makes me feel good.
As such, for me, every time people whine about ''cowards'' or ''not going down like a man'' I literally see it as a baby not getting a blue. In which case I feel much better. And that is all that matters.
