Im just being honest that evryone metagames all the time. Just as long as INRP your char doesnt know that knowledge - I.E: "I was just there for the donuts and I happened to catch a smuggler," rather than, "my trader saw you smuggling so I logged my LSF char" - I think its fine.
Have you ever used the wiki? Metagaming. Flstat? Metagaming, (Im looking at you Snak) player list, flcompanion, forum guides? Metagaming, metagaming, metagaming. We all do it and its pointless to pretend otherwise
The key is to seperate the player and character, sure my Pirate doesnt know the trader is going there, but its perfectly inrp for him to fly there on the off chance. Sure your new corsair doesnt know a codename is there, but its fine for him to go exploring there.

I must admit, Hone makes a fair point. Pretty much everyone uses metagaming in some way, shape or form during their time here, particularly the vauge situation of seeing/encountering a ship on one character/on the player list and switching to another to interact with them...on an RP server, more RP is good, right, even if it's a little more..how shall I put this...artificial in its happening?
Yes, I'm not denying people can be a bit dim and use information that a character flat-out shouldn't have and I'm certainly not denying that there are some outright abuses of meta-info, but that's why we have the discretion of an admin team to handle complaints on a case by case basis. This is not as black and white as some people make it out to be. It's very decidedly grey.
HOWEVER, to the OP, I think that logging in on an unrelated character to take revenge for the happenings on another character is taking it too far. You are letting OORP bad feeling influence your characters for no RP reason. Yes you could probably cover yourself to be just within the rules, but is it the right course of action? Ask yourself in a situation like that, are your intentions honest?
