The Thor is in the hands of the [RM] this week, correct. It's a fun ship, like was mentioned, and not made for trying any huge RP moves as the hackers did.

The mistake comes from player side, not from the provider. Because one can argue whether that thing should be there, but one thing is absolutely clear: it created action. A lot.
Are you suggesting we should start treating things appearing in Comms Channel, one of those parts of the forum which is dedicated for roleplay, ooRP? Because the "provider" was the first to start roleplaying with that thing.
And the good old excuse of "at least it created action" is bullcrap as has been since ever, and in itself is a clear sign of low standards. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd be pretty fine with a pure PvP server as well, simply because of it having activity, but I personally am not here only for "action", I'm here for quality roleplay, and simple "action" is far from that, retarded "action" is even more so. No wonder quality roleplayers have been escaping the community in the past years if all one is to experience is standards getting lower and lower.
I hope the current and future owners of the Thor will not try anything silly like trying to roleplay seriously with an ooRP entity like that. (For now, I trust those two from [RM] allowed to fly it not being like that.)
The "Rainbow Thor" handed out to factions is kinda OORP and all, but still, I don't see what is the fun when you are hammered every single time, by a ship that is far tinier than yours. It happens at times, but that is the case when skill comes into play and both of them have a fair chance of coming out victorius.
I, for one, would never be arsed to log in my ships, when I know that I stand no chance against someone, where skills does not matter much. I gain nothing but demotivation to log in.
I guess someone mentioned along the lines of "Gameplay should be in such a way that is fun for both the parties involved". This thing is fun for the one who uses it, but is definitely not for those at the receiving end.

Yes. I think that even though it was posted as roleplay in a roleplay channel it should be treated as oorp or even better: non-existent.
It's the responsibility of the rp provider to offer something to the others. And then the recipient decides whether or not he wants to play that scenario.
Ignoring things that make no sense is a vital skill that keeps good rpers from kany frustrating experiences.

What is wrong with enjoying the fun aspects (e.g. the challenge to hunt a 15-snac bomber in a bomber) even if you are not a big fan of the overall concept? I had great pvp fun. Nothing wrong with having fun when you can have it.

Ah, finally. Personal attacks. Makes every discussion so much better. Anyway, I count myself as a high expectation roleplayer but that does not conflict with having silly fun sometimes. I'd almost be tempted to advise you to relax a little and to start ignoring the things that are not fitting your view of the roleplay world. In mine, e.g. there is no God-given Thor. Doesn't keep me from having fun with hunting it. *shrugs* Flexibility of the mind and ability to adapt are the keywords to enjoying more situations in a rolepay game in which standards and expectations vary widely.

I fully agree and I would like to add a petition to the RM. Use it more carefully. The LH Thor was in NY every 20 mins. Once the killers logged it was back. This was inside the rules but ofc not cool.

Is this Official or just Hacker RP?
The RP is not enough for an engagement. If you see something like this, take screens and report, that's all.
From what I've heard, the bomber seems to pretty much only cause trouble, with its "given by godlike-entities" roleplay, if you could even call it roleplay. Overpowered ships for events are fine, but ships like these should not be able to be free to do whatever fits their mind and works according to the ID.
But like that, especially in the hands of the wrong players, it might do more harm than good. If I imagine myself in the mind of a cap player, why would I even bother logging if I get two shotted by something? Or even try to fight against it in anything else? So, you don't play at all. I don't think this is what you want achieved.
When handing out tools like this, you should enforce more restrictions.
And you really should avoid explaining its existence through deities.
That said, I hope that the new owners show a lot more responsibility with it than the old.
The venator was a bad idea. The thor is just... nevermind, whatever, I will keep looking for some RP now and then... hope is the last one to die, they say...
