Hellfire has been wrecking Liberty forces - Bretonia's prime ally - for years and now you want to be buddies against the big baddies for moral reasons?
Why not pick another ID or suck it up and play as badguys/terrorists, like HF are?
Contrary to what you may think, the Legion is a group with different views than the Liberty Government, and believes them to be incompetent and corrupt. What people consider bad is just people with different views. The Legion is such group. Lately, we've been exploring options on how to establish the Legion as a sovereignty, rather than a pure military force up against Liberty. You can also account for the fact that as revolutionaries, it'd be wrong for us to have a negative opinion from civilians, neighboring nations, and what-not. You cannot win a revolution without the support of a nation's people. Sure, there may be those that wont want to get involved should a major conflict arise, but we'd prefer to look like liberators rather than terrorists. As such, humanitarian operations are our current option. Taking in refugees while simultaneously defending our border and getting on better terms with Bretonia (Obviously not asking for support against Liberty) is something we have decided to do.
Simply put, if we look like the good guys, people are more likely to rally to us rather than against us.
Sure, Xenos are just a group with different views, and so are the Gaians and Mollys with their bombings and whatnot.
I dislike the idea of whiteknighting on what is essentially a terrorist ID.
"The Hellfire Legion is an unusually large and well-organized group of Libertonian criminals dedicated to the total eradication of the Liberty Navy. [...]The Hellfire Legion operates primarily in opposition to the Liberty Navy, and their running claims of political murder and framing within the Navy are well-known."
There really isn't much more expanding we can do on our answer. As such I shall just quote the HF propaganda drone, and note that despite apparently popular belief, HF are not generic cartoon buy guy villains.
"The Hellfire Legion is the last hope for Liberty. Burning bright through the corruption of the Liberty Navy like a torch in the dark, the Hellfire Legion uses its considerable assets for good, slowly chipping away at the institutionalized evil of Liberty. In order to free Liberty from this dark shroud of oppression, the Hellfire Legion uses only the most advanced technology, far above the pale copies made by the Lane Hackers. With everything ranging from fleets of advanced warships well-equipped for electronic warfare to their smaller but still terrifying scout drones, the Hellfire Legion is well-equipped going forward to handle the rampant corruption in Liberty and deal death to the murderers who initiated it.
I'm not sure what you plan but flying around Omegas & lower Omicrons while insulting locals on the go is kinda weird. You can sure add Order as unfriendly from now on.

Did you expect a handshake when you rolled an Osiris up to a transport?

Does that make a first impression situation any better? Not really. As for the transport, it wanted to keep it's distance. Also, 7.3k. Not 10. The fighter disrupted what I'm guessing was you on your Osiris, to keep said Battleship from gaining any ground. Kind of something you'd expect when a Battleship shows up out of no where. Keeping our distance and getting out of unfamiliar territory as soon as possible.
