Hello Mr. Lawrie -
Your application has been reviewed by the war council, and I must say we have our reservations. For starters, you went to Cambridge University to study History. You then go to work for the BMM, which... has little to do with History. If any. Instead of becoming a researcher, or working as a teacher yourself, you completely left that field. The money used for such a prestigious school went to waste. Flag number 1.
A second flag is the fact that you left the BMM after the Gallic invasion to be a... freelancer? Do you not have any national pride? When danger arises, do you just up and run away without standing and protecting those you care about? I don't believe for a second that you became a freelancer to "Help" the BAF in the Taus. Someone with a father whom was in the BPA surely would've enlisted within his homeland's Navy. Not become a freelancer of all things, and then completely leave any connection to Bretonia. We were very confused about that one. What is to happen if fighting gets fierce within the ranks of the Colonial Republic? Are you going to leave and become a freelancer again, completely abandoning the CR? That's flag number 2.
The third and final flag is, with all the opportunities you had to enlist and have a military background, military training, even something as basic as flight school, you went to school for a History major, worked at a mining corporation, then became a freelancer. There is zero evidence you are even a capable pilot, or know the first thing about naval tactics. You would be a danger, not an asset to the Colonial Republic.
With the aforementioned flags, your application to join the Colonial Republic is hereby denied. I hope you come to your senses and rediscover any hint of pride for your nation, instead of a coward and in my eyes a traitor. Good day freelancer.

Hello Mrs. Lawson -
It seems there has been an increase of applicants whom are deserters from their houses. You are not the first I am sad to say. Regardless, let us examine your application more closely, shall we?
Coming from a Military family is commendable, but not believable in your case, considering your apparent unfamiliarity with Naval ranks. Your mother being a bomber pilot, believable. You father a "Commander" of a Fleet Carrier? Not possible. You may have fooled someone with a lesser knowledge, but as the Fleet Admiral of the Colonial Republic, unfortunately for you I am well versed in Naval ranks. A Commander of the Liberty Navy are allowed vessels up to a Destroyer or Siege Cruiser. Never in all my years have a seen someone beneath the rank of Captain or Admiral have a seat aboard a Dreadnought or the prized Liberty Carriers. So either your father was the exception, or you are lying and very wrong. I'm inclined to think the latter.
Next in your application, you state that you are very smart, which does not show much humility on your part. Probably not wise to make such a conceited statement in an application. Also I highly doubt you would make a useful Commando, when you have proven thus far to not exhibit the qualities that one such person would need to even be considered. You have not even provided any examples of your skills, commendations, or rank in the Liberty Navy. You see my predicament when you claim to be considered a Navy Commando Officer, yet have provided zero evidence to warrant such a statement.
The worst part about your story, is despite claiming to have a deep background in the Liberty Navy, is that you suddenly became a Freelancer. As the previous applicant before you, you have for no justifiable reason left your House and duties, and become a Freelancer. For what end? You leave one of the most powerful Naval fleets in Sirius, and become... a Freelancer? That makes absolutely no sense, and is a gigantic red flag Mrs. Lawson. You abandoned your family's values and practices, you deserted your nation, and you wish to join our Republic?
No. Your application to join the Colonial Republic is denied. You are a horrible example to follow, even as a Freelancer, and I will be forwarding your information to Liberty forces.

Name: Da Yong Qi, Andrew
Age: 25
Birthplace: Planet Isles of the Blest, Elysium System, Crayter Sector
Biography: Orphaned during the mass exodus of the Crayter Sector, as Andrew had incidentally strayed from his family and had winded himself inside one of those crammed "Atlas" transport. how was he depressed when only strangers flooded out of each ship of the evac fleet. Before society found him and branded him as a orphan, he applied for jobs and ended up on Minato Harbour as a ship repair engineer.
A few years after, as he was repairing a refitted "Atlas" transport captained by a IMG captain, he messed up repairing the hull, and was fired for that. After a conversation with the IMG captain, he then benevolently understood his situation and offered him a job aboard his ship. Over the years he developed a bond with the IMG captain, who revealed himself as a bachelor.
On the same day Leeds was captured by the gauls, they were on a typical mining routine. As the gallic forces washed over the Taus, our mining ship was caught in their wave of indiscriminate destruction. How helplessly had we tried to run away from their armada, yet they still hunted us down to the last piece of wreckage. My escape pod ended up on Java Station, yet his crew was nowhere to be found.
As a courier passed a letter to me, commenting that it was meant for the person's "son", was a will of a few million Sirian credits from the Captain.
Relevant Experience: Mining ship deckhand and self-taught ship repairing.
Your reasons for applying to the Military: For the family and kinsmen I helplessly left behind, and my Sirian family I helplessly saw dieing to the gallic forces.

Major-Colonel Lloyd Flint,
Military Command,
Colonial Republic Military
Biography: Ragnar, a Rheinish Zoner, born 779 AE, dreamed of riding the jump holes and finding new unexplored worlds as a child. He had a head for engineering, and frequently snuck off to the bays and bugged the mechanics until they let him help.
As a teen, he dropped out of secondary school to apprentice to an engineer working on freighters. After two years, he achieved journeyman, and at the young age of 14 became the engineer on a Zoner Whale bound for Omegas.
Three round trips later, Ragnar became the proud owner of a used FR-2302-K freighter. At age 17 he was the youngest pilot in memory. He stuck to short runs to and from the alien artifact or helium fields, hauling for various Zoner mining concerns. This was dangerous work, and in the first year he had already racked up several pirate kills and outrun no few ambushes.
Then the Nomad War began. Ragnar helped with the evacuation, and with his aging freighter loaded with families and supplies, managed to traverse all the way to Tau-29. The distance from known Nomad jump holes meant safety, and it was, for a time.
817 A.S. brought much change. By this time Ragnar was piloting a Spatial bomber, escorting Zoner freighters to the adjacent Tau systems, and exploring the ice clouds for wrecks and unknown jump holes. On a gunboat escort to Tau-23 in support of IMG mining in the area, a large squadron of unknown snub ships (emblazoned with red fleur-de-lis) swooped down upon them. The fighting was quick but bloody; all but the gunboat and Ragnar's bomber were wrecks. The unknown ships were destroyed, but one managed to get away in the dogfight. Ragnar and his escort managed to limp back to the jump hole.
Two days later, more of the same unknown ships, two destroyers with five fighter escorts, came out of the ice field bearing down upon Freeport 6. Ragnar, his wingman Jonas, and a few ragtag freighters scrambled to defend the base until the other civilians could evacuate. During the fighting, a Colonial patrol engaged, preventing a massacre. Ragnar's bomber broke up around him, however, and he could not remember anything after his pod activated.
Waking up in the medbay of a Thanatos-class, Ragnar found himself on the way to New Hope East, with newly-grafted synthskin and a prosthetic cybereye replacing what had been lost in the brief exposure to first burning H-Fuel, then freezing hard vacuum prior to his pod activation. Jonas was dead. Most of those he flew with against the Gallians, as he found they called themselves, were dead. There was only one thing left to do.
What he did find, upon landing and accessing Neural Net, was that his ship and several other Zoner ships were insured, and with no known next of kin for the deceased, he was eligible for the insurance payouts. Taking stock of his newfound wealth, a need to kill Gallians, and proximity to his saviors, the choice was made. Ragnar would join the Colonial Navy, and purchase his own ship if needs be. He would have his vengeance, and the Border Worlds would be cleansed of Gallic influence.
Relevant Experience: Extensive on-the-job experience as mechanic. Started as engineer on a Zoner Whale transport bound for the Omegas from FP5. Copiloted a Serenity class in the Taus for three years. Piloted a Zoner Heavy Bomber for 2 years as part of an expeditionary wing just before the accident.
Your reasons for applying to the Military: Vengeance, desire to free Tau systems on behalf of both Colonial and Zoners, need to kill Gallians that murdered Zoners in and around Freeport 6. Wealth and riches hold only the allure that they buy ships and weapons with which to exact said vengeance. This man cannot be bought.
