A connection was secured. "Mr. Sloan, it is good to speak with you again."
"And you too, Doc," Sloan answered. He gave a nod of acknowledgement to Ashlea.
He went on to update progress. Full station power had been restored with only a few small wiring projects left to do. While some of the exterior structure would be in continued repair, internally everything was sound.
The medical and research areas were complete and functional. "We've had most of the station shut down so as not to attract attention. We're staying where we work. Right now, the crews are sleeping as they put in some serious overtime."
"This is good news," answered Doc, "Um...you couldn't by chance build up a holodec could you?"
Sloan grinned, "I can but it will take me awhile."
Doc smirked and looked to Ashley as he answered, "Make it so, Mr. Sloan, make it so."
"We have been getting some com chatter of late," Sloan explained, "I'm not sure what to make of it as the only traffic out here are Junkers and their associates but I keep hearing of a Moka looking for medical help as if in the form of hearsay."
Doc just nodded, "Not sure where from I take it?"
"No, Sir, it was all over local chat waves for awhile, probably from passing patrols but it's been quiet in the last few hours," he explained.
"All said, you can head back whenever you like. Your quarters are finished as are hers," he stated, "when you do, I could use some multiplexers and plating although I'm in no rush for them."
"Will do. I can get those locally. Mr. Sloan, I need to scoot. I'll call again soon."
The channel was cut and Doc scratched his chin, "Moka...intersting." He then shrugged, "But it was chatter so I'm not sure what to think."
He then smiled to his love, "So where were we before all of this commotion?"
She frowned. When she had left, Moka was healthy and in good form. After the call was cut she looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Moka needs medical? Wonder who he got in a fight with this time......"
"So where were we before all of this commotion?"
"Um..... I think we were talking about Foster and stuff." with a slight shrug she stood and turned her back to the comm unit. "Is it ready for you to return to then, is it?" She smiled slightly, trying to brush her thoughts off as she added "Sounds like they have all been busy there."

"Well, yes, they're busy but they did say that while we can return, there is no rush as they still have more work to do," he smiled. He then stood up and walked up behind her, placing his arms around her, his hands over her stomach. "I learned Spanish, now an ancient dialect of Hispania, when I was very young. Languages evolve just like people. Languages were a part of my education as a youth, Latin being my personal favorite. I'll have to teach you some someday."
He tightened his arms around her, "I mean.....since we're not in a rush so it seems, I have time to teach you some....unless you need to get somewhere. A meeting......a wedding....an appointment.....Whatever it may be."
"Why did you learn an ancient dialect of a language?" She asked, not able to see why it would be useful in todays society. "The same as Latin..... An old language only ever used in artifacts of the old world.... Even then, it hardly exists anymore." With a slight shrug, she rested her hands on his as he placed them over her stomach. "I would like to learn it though... It is a beautiful language."
She smiles "I am where I need to be.... Everything else can wait right now. I am happy staying here with you while I still can, I cleared my appointments and meetings indefinitely when I left.... I don't think the others plan on me coming home if I'm completely honest. A single Rogue going into a meeting such as this one is normally suicide.." She stops for a moment before grinning "But.... A wedding? Who is running away to get married now?"

He continued holding her from behind. "I learned that language when I was a youth. Many languages are derived from it so ancient it may be, it is a common root."
He then began to walk with her, holding her close, "We can stay awhile but we can't forever in as much as I'd like to." He then cocked his head a bit, "And who says you would go into a meeting alone? I'm not exactly a nobody ya know!"
He smirked sheepishly a bit, "Running away to get married? No one I know although the subject seems to be of great interest to you. A bit soon for us to be talking like that anyway I mean, I don't know where you stand on things like living and kids and such....all that and I still work a lot."
He then clammed up, realizing he may as well have just proposed.
As they walked, she listened to what he was saying. She couldn't help but giggle at his reaction to the wedding talk. She stopped and stole a kiss before taking his hands in hers "Relax, John.... If you were any more tense right now....." Smiling she moved closer to him, cuddling into him again. She spoke quietly "Living.... Home is where the heart is, is it not?" Thinking for a moment, she added "I don't know what you would like to know about kids though.... And your work is important to you. It's ok."
She took a small step back and kissed him again, not sure what to make of what he had said, "Just please, relax."

They walked slowly, Doc softly smiling. It was a pleasant morning but clouds on the horizon spoke of probably rain later in the day. He pointed at them.
"Even a rainy day here is pleasant," he explained, "the water on the leaves, drops hitting the lake and falling on the roof. If you don't mind it, the fish come up to feed on the insects that are forced down to the water's surface so I find that fishing is a good thing to do."
He got to thinking some more. She like it here and it was obvious she didn't want to leave....and neither did he. Still, he had his work. As he thought, he smiled a bit. "You know something, I could re-build another Tombstone here. A nice estate house, a large ranch and keep a lot of the land unspoiled, using this cabin as a rustic escape. I mean, Canaria was home and now, it's cold...very cold." His smile turned somber, "The ranch now tundra, the house iced over and I can't even give it all away now." He sighed, "It was once a house full of love and even that is gone."
He stopped and faced her, "I can build it back up....here....for you....for us....if......that's what you would want."
His heart was growing heavy.
She watches the sky, wanting to see the rain. She couldn't remember the last time she had. The sound of the rain on the roof was something she had missed. "We should stay here.... And leave after the rain..... Please?"
She liked his smile, seeing him happy, she couldn't help but smile too. Listening to him talk about rebuilding Tombstone Estate here, she did like the sound of that, And the way he spoke about it, she smiled. Seeing him loose his smile, she frowned slightly. "Don't give it away. It is harming no one there, and it obviously means a lot to you.... Something can be done there, we just need to figure out what it is."
When he stopped, she linked her fingers behind his neck, and stole a kiss. Listening to him talk about rebuilding the estate, not for him, but for them.... Both of them.... She couldn't hide the smile. "John, If you wish to rebuild here, I will help. I would love nothing more then to be able to.... And to have somewhere safe to call home."

The rain was a way off but really, what else was there to do? The shuttle wasn't far. They began a slow walk back to it. "I'd like to show you some of the pictures of it."
When they got to the shuttle, he showed the many pics on display but it was the one from a distance that did it the most justice.
"This is the one I love most," he said as he brought up the picture.
"I don't have the waterfront here that I did there but I can build it across this pond, out of view of this house so as not to spoil the view for either," he explained. As she looked at it, he stood up
and began to pump his fist in the air. This is just what he needed, to rebuild. He had the credits and with a local work force plentifully available, it could be done.
"We can do this!" he shouted at her with a smile. "I can keep what I have on Canaria as my labs are underground and we can proceed with Foster." He bobbed his head a bit and again pounded
the air with his fist, "Yes, we can do this."
He then walked over to where she was but took a step away as he sighed in thought, "But there is one thing I'm missing, something that every good home will need."
She looked over the pictures, she did like what she saw. "It looks amazing... It's beautiful." nodding at his idea of building it out of site of the cabin, she nodded. It was a good idea, meaning both would keep the views, the peace. Both could exist without interfering with the other.
His sudden movement as he stood gave her a fright, but she giggled at his excitement. She stood herself, looked at the image again before back at him, her excitement not as obvious as his, but she was. "We can do this."
His step back and sigh wasn't what she wanted to hear, "What are you missing? You have a beautiful place here to build a new home on, what more could you need?"
