sorry I'm just curious but will there be a tech nerf on it?
also like for ex. if a certain faction would SRP for it would they be able to use anyship? ex. Libertonian faction using rheinland technology and ships?
If it's part of their SRP - yes. SRP must specify which ship you want to use (unless it's a general permission, for example an SRP for free usage of Liberty Snub ships dunno). You can't change your gear to anything not permitted in your SRP request approval and if you do - the SRP can be revoked.

I have no clue xD
An SRP is neither better nor worse than "normal RP". It is a request that allows you to gain a technology/diplomacy/allowances combination that would not be possible with the ID you used before. The requirements for an SRP are obviously higher than being able to write a simple engagement message in English, but neither does it require you to write hundreds of pages of bestseller material.
If you have an ongoing lengthy roleplay and feel like working with tech/diplomacy/allowances that leave the boundaries of your ID will heavily improve how your RP can continue, then you are welcome to apply in the SRP request subforum.
Suggestion: Make the ID accessible to everyone, with cargo, or even ship limitations. Then make people SRP for larger ships, since I don't want to spend 250 million just to MAYBE play the character I want to the correct way
There'd be little point having it as a normal ID since the only real difference between it and the FL ID is the rephacks, not to mention having to SRP anything larger than a serenity would nullify having the ID in the first place.
Paradoxically you need an established character to apply for an SRP which means you're using the FL ID until you get it, unless you like to risk a quarter of a mill on an ID.
It's a bit of a non-starter really, a good idea locked up due to 5k drug smugglers and a corvo.
I cannot wait for this to happen. I have been flying a Corvo as a researcher and love it. Would definitely like to have and ID that states I am a researcher instead of a freelancer. ESPECIALLY since every house military and police force just assumes that I'm a smuggler since I am a Freelancer in a corvo. I RP it as a Science ship but the lolwuts just don't seem to understand.
Tremendously wonderful ID. I am wondering who would not use a Freelancer ID and roleplay a researcher and instead choose to SRP their way and pass all the required checks and months of waiting.
On top of that he'd be afforded all the allowances that the Freelancer ID provides while the only real benefit of a Researcher ID is that it can use a super transport. Not that it makes sense of course for a researcher to really need a Mastodon for their roleplay.
This announcement/change would have made sense if it was accompanied with a specific lucrative allowance or boost. Like scanning anomalies or smth else. Right now it is totally useless and as we can see noone cared to go fo it.

That's right, we're bringing back the Researcher ID, this time with some nice changes. The biggest change you will find with this though is that it will be an SRP-only ID. The reason, as you will see below, is that we want this to be a true RP ID, versus another OP, powertrading ID that could easily happen with its use.
The Researcher ID Wrote:Pilot carrying this quasi-lawful ID is a Researcher, who:
* Can attack any ship in self-defense or to protect an allied ship or base
* Cannot escort or fulfill bounty contracts.
* Cannot pirate or demand credits.
* Cannot participate in unlawful actions except as described above.
While this seems like a basic ID with no real benefit, keep in mind that you can use any size transport, can go anywhere, and no rephacks (Minus Nomads and the such). Also, there is discussion about allowing the ID to be able to scan anomalies or what not, and it will give you a reward in return. Stayed tuned for what that may be, if implemented.
Happy flying, and make sure to make those deliveries of a certain green commodity...
