I like that the Official Factions are the only ones who can apply this new line. Very smart and wise.
Zoner officials are not that much active you know. I don't see any for more than 95% of time.
You could always apply. I'm sure they would love to have fresh recruits.
The solution is not to increase the size of official factions, it is to fix the Zoner ID.
Quote:7. A ship that runs to the Freeport under fire is as guilty as the pursuer for bringing the fight to the base. The person chased will be fined or denied docking rights based on the severity of the offence and the vessels used in the altercation as well as the pursuer. Pursuing a ship into the NFZ for the purpose of combat or bounty collection is prohibited.
So being in a 10k radius around the base which is the NFZ while being chased will lead you into FR5.
and now it is backed up by green.
the last time Indies tried to shoo me away from Freeport 1 was when I was defending myself from some Corsair caps. They all ended up blowing up to a bloke flying a kirk, and with a "scratched" Freeport as an extra for the Zoner snubs. Indies are cancerous, especially if they shoot you based off oorp reasons, which is what pretty much everyone does around here.. one way or another.

People who actually takes their RP seriously and out effort into it, to answer your question.
I'm not one of them, I do however respect certain factions enough to out effort into RP before PvP. The exceptions are extremely limited and I'd like to keep it that way for my fun's sake. Even as an indie, I would still try at least.
But the point is, uncontrollable indies are cancerous and no one seems to be able to do anything about it. Which is what makes them cancerous. I was "hunted" by these said indies before for oorp reasons, I don't see why would they stop now either. This has been going on for nearly a decade now. The change to official Zoner factions only is harsh, but good. It will teach the 13yr old Nephilim captains to know their places.

yes. Jax is entirely correct. Very little difference between indies and officials is why you dont see very many official zoners around, not that we can be around 24 hours a day at every zoner base watching for NFZ violations.
For those arguing to "fix" the indie zoner ID, It doesnt need fixing. Adding anything that allows pews, like this line would, would just be abused by either indie zoners for pew or trolls baiting zoners into pew.
Well, to be fair, the official Zoners are definitely not what most Zoner players want to play. Just think about it. One of them is a Sirius-wide trading faction, which is fine. That has the most appeal for indies but it comes with a somewhat narrow RP limitation. Indies who join this might actually have fun doing stuff, but they'll never touch a lot of the "good" Zoner ships that have more interesting roles and appearances like gunboats and caps.
TAZ, on the other hand, might as well not be a Zoner faction at all. They're a religious group who use the Zoner ID for convenience (since the generic Zoner identity conforms to their ethos in a broad sense), but have very little, if anything, to do with the Omicrons and most Freeports. It's also a highly specialized RP that turns off most people who aren't into that sort of thing.

Implying most indies are indeed interested in using those ships for the roles they are originally made for.

Of course they wont touch caps (they do have a few GBs i believe). They traded access away to get their house whale docking.

You'd be surprised what we have some involvement in. Also, it's not "Highly Specialized" RP. Anyone who has actually talked with a TAZ member about our RP could tell you that. If anything, it's quite simple actually.

+1.
Kaghuros, your 'faith' in zoner indies using zoner caps as they were intended is a bit strange and seems a bit naive.
