I have a question about this that's relevant to something brought up in one of Pavel's threads.
If a Wild ID'd ship attacks me silently, without a word, and I beat them/get away, and some time later I see them in a different system on my same character, am I allowed to silently engage them? After all, in-character I know that they're hostile and they'd do the same to me, so shouldn't I be allowed to try and get the jump on them?

The Wild are the first ones that come to mind, from way back 4.84 (or even 4.83) who were getting away with killing people after little to no words exchanged in between.
I have witnessed this too many times, in Omega 15, in New Berlin, in Sigma 13 and Omega 55.

As a leader of one of the Wild factions, I've yet to see anyone from Aoi silently engaging someone, let alone uncloaking and trying to instakill on top of that. I can't speak for other factions, but should the Wild lose the ability to engage with no RP, I wouldn't care too much. The only thing I would care about is if would also be forbidden to attack before uncloaking like what happened to Nomads. But to answer your question - yes, the Wild can silently engage anyone with no RP. I'm not sure if you can do the same in return, you'll have to wait for a green response for that.
I've said it before, I'll repeat it here: Any other faction in the game except the Nomads can roleplay engagement messages while cloaked and then uncloak + engage enemies. Nomads, who have the most famous buttcloaking ship in the game in the Marduk, and who are supposed to be keeping you on your guard always, are the only ones who can't. You can literally just laugh at a cloaked Nomad ship and never be afraid no matter how much roleplay he does just because of the fact that they are not allowed to shoot you before they uncloak + drop a few additional lines, in which time not only can you spot the ship but also move away from it, or even engage it first.
