Eternal, you have obviously never been to Gamma/Alpha in the high hours. Gamma especially is NASTY, when I was going through on my Wilde to drop off Train CDs, there were some 10 ships there, all of them at least gunboats, but mostly cruisers and battleships. The Outcast destroyer is a more common sight to me than anything except the Adv. Train, and its pretty sickening when they completely ignore you trying to open conversation. Just sitting there, farming NPCs. What gives? If you want to kill NPCs, there's SP... not parking in a populated system, only stopping to unbalance fights...

As for Scornstar, yep, its pretty bad when there's some 160 people on the server, a quarter are whoring diamonds, a quarter are in capships, and another quarter is in NY.
The point about capships vs bombers is this- when you fly a capship and see an enemy, you have two choices. One, charge in guns blazing, or two, talk for awhile. You can startup number two midfight without too much worry, since your armor and lack of dodging anyway won't make it do too much harm. Little stuff can't do that- you stop to type, you get nailed. So you get in your RP beforehand. Since everyone who flies fighters tends to do this, there is no issue- if you didn't, there would be a LOT less RP going around, and the place would be less fun. Unfortunately, a lot of capship owners can be classified into the following categories:
1) OMG, big ship...
2) Wow. Lotsa firepower.
Subgroup A: That means I can crush the noobz under my boots! Ha!
Subgroup B: That means people will think twice before crossing me, so I can get in some pre-fight RP.
3) Nice armor there. That'll give me time to type.
4) I've got a cool idea for a capship's RP, time to make it happen, even if the pricetag gives me nightmares.
Top to bottom is most common to least common, sadly. That's why we do this, to get people to move down on that list and see that capships are more than engines of destruction and PvP, but defensive platforms behind which one can RP more safely.
I dont think thats the different types. I think those are the different stages I went through exactly minus #2 subgroup A, but I also think that these rules will speed up the process at all, they may just chase away unrealized potential. When i came here I was stoked I never seen a FreeLancer mod before as in this is my first. I got on the forums about the second day and have been here ever since. I tried to catch on to what was going on by just experienceing it but there is much that happens here on the forums that adds to that and thus the game was breathed new life.
If there was some clown telling me that I had to give up my ship I would have gotten irate...:$ Wait I did. But after that a couple folk gave me some good pointers to help integrate better. 13 cent, and Mwerte, these folk really were all about helping folk understand things here and did it with tack, well 13 cent said there was a $5 credit bounty on me first and killed me then he was amiable.
And I think there is alot less RP going on when things like this are being discussed. Think of the folk you could be RPing with or the new folk you could meet or guide if you weren't here trying to deny them capital ships. Denying it is just away of keeping more of the toys on the playground for your selves. Share and let others play.

Just for the record the NPCs are there to RP with as well. Sonetimes I may ignore someone if on a mission or inbattled with many strong NPCs. Even the NPCs will tell ya "Fight now! Talk later!" if you open comms with them while they are in battle. NPCs are not invisable. They are just not the stand outs characters(players). Every player has a rep the NPCs are just what they are but, in RP one man talking to me gets far less attention than the man trying to kill me.
There is no such thing as a balanced life or death fight except for in an arena. It would be bad RP to not be helping your allies win a battle just because your bigger.
That would be like me getting upset at a tank for backing me up in Felugia, against a sniper. No, you respond plauseably and a plausable battles are far from fair if you have generals worth there salt.
Keep the battle fairness, and give me RP. I would rather take on criusers in my tanker than have "nerfed fair PVP rules" there.
Order had been given. The end.
I don't remember that there had been such fuss when Rheinland
did exactly the same (maybe even worse) restriction on capital ships.
Lubo please, divide your post a bit, these walls of text are such unreadable
monsters.. :P

Just ain't use to write like that...
Rhaindland's cap. ships more or less....well...they aren't very good for anything exept defending Rhaindland space(I tried very hard not to say *they suck*) . They look bad , they are bricks and they are so fat and clumpsy that it is realy impossible to do anything at all with them. And aldo I'm not realy aware of what RM SAID to restict them , I'm pretty sure they didn't tell people to leave the server. As proof of that I want to say that I see the Rhaindland Battleship *Shtic* , not often , but still I see him online.Thats perhaps because he/she bouth the ship before that rule was made and has a good RP to go with it.
The long story short - Rhaindland's cap's aren't good for what most indi's want to do.
At the moment Cruisers and Battleships AREN'T limited, so by doing this, the Outcasts are sticking to good roleplay as suggested by the ID
@Eternal, there REALLY are that many battleships. I still remember when 5 bounty hunter battlecruisers came to gamma, and there was barely a corsair online. Then suddely 5 Legates undock, rape the battlecruisers, followed by cheers of "omg we pwned them so easy"... not good

After hearing this from an oposide to the Outcats side. I reconsider my opinion on just how much Battleships there are...
There wasn't as much fuss when Rheinland did it because the RM is Rheinland Military High Command. The 66th FIGHTER WING is just a detachment of the Malta National Force (I think that's what the acronym MNF stands for:unsure:).
In RP a fighter wing doesn't have authority over the rest of the fleet. Because server rules/politics are what they are, this "fighter group" "owns" the Outcasts.
