christ lmao you people are being too seriously paranoid about your names
as long as your char names aren't crap like 420.dong.bonger, get.rekt.kid or el.harambe, or we you're fine. It's noting POP(ULAR) CULTURE. Memes are a strong focus of this.
Refering to historical ideologies, figures, places, whatever, is fine. Pun related names aren't too OORP either, as long as they keep in line and don't push it too much. eg, asco fiasco, torpedo tickler.

It's about "get.rekt", "SUCKI_SUCKI_5_DORRAR", "ayy.de.la.lmao" and stuff like that.
More clear now?
But isn't "SUCKI_SUCKI_5_DORRAR" more inRP than "Luke Skywalker"?
On a more serious note though (which, to clarify, is not directed at the green announcement but rather the general community attitude toward the whole charname mess), I've never been a big fan of character name guidelines cause even though it clearly aims toward a black and white definition, it's not even gray. It's more like fluffy pink with cyan stripes and gold dots. I never really understood the whole "if a name is funny it's bad and the character is bad and the RP of the person behind the character is bad" mentality, because the way I see it, characters in Sirius would just have as much sense of humor as we have around here, so even though it's understandable that certain "more serious" factions like police and military and such would enforce strict naming conventions, I wouldn't really think other factions (and especially freelancers and the like) would care about having serious names on their transponders.
So here's just a random idea I'm tossing out there - What if we just throw out the whole naming guidelines and stick to a rather straightforward definition of "acceptable character name"? Something that'd go like "Characters should only have in-universe names fitting with their line of roleplay" which would still allow funny/meme-like names for less-serious characters long as those jokes or memes can be justified within the disco lore while still preventing names like LNS-Idiot.on.a.Stick and such. Basically a "you can have fun with your character name, but don't drag anything in that's not already part of official disco lore" sort of deal. Which brings us to the example above, imo seeing a character named "Luke Skywalker" actually is more immersion-breaking than a char called "SUCKI_SUCKI_5_DORRAR", because even though the latter is what most people would consider tasteless and/or unprofessional, there are (thankfully not that many) people who go around RPing hookers and such, so why wouldn't someone go out and make fun of em sitting next to Newark?
P.S: (Un)fortunately, there's no middle ground when it comes to character names. The enforced rule should either be "Only firstname.lastname chars and dead-serious callsigns are allowed" or we'll always have brain-numbingly idiotic names flying around which still fit under the defined naming guidelines, so imo if there's gonna be idiocy, at least it can be limited to in-universe idiocy, cause some might shrug it off and move on, but to others out-of-universe names (even if played seriously) are actually more annoying than some idiot having a nonsense name which can actually be the name some idiot char in Sirius might've picked for their stupid ship.

I think I'd actually rather have the former than the latter.
I've got a few Synth Foods characters, mostly following the convention of Firstname.Lastname, except for two who I'll RP as Synth Foods Security Division who have more colorful names: Synth.Cereal.Killer and Synth.Weed.Whacker. I hope that I won't get sanctioned for those names.
But again, that's just a pun, like Rogues like to use puns for their ship names. Nothing wrong with it. Would be wrong if it was John.Cena.Cereal.Killer or -=SYNTH.CEREAL.KILLER.KING.LINUX=- or something weird.

No, SUCKI_SUCKI_5_DORRAR is not even meme related name. Like "gay" is not a curse word, but someone once found it disturbing when I mentioned it. I mean, all of sudden, people aren't "open minded" as they used to be but that's not the case.
Unproffesionalism in the staff is here the case. I stated that in my sanction notice. Look at what was our dear admin's reaction to my so disgusting crime.
Calm down, Lerdi. Just give your ships normal names. That's not unprofessionalism, that's admins doing their jobs to ensure people don't fly around with bullshtty names on a roleplay server. You don't write SUCKI_SUCKI_5_DORRAR on your car's license plate. Also, find someone else to vent your anger on.
