I think people should also stop taking the game personally to the heart.
Like, starting to whine out of the smallest thing also causes people to get riled up. Or you know, getting ridiculously angry from piracy, or other things that aren't actually directed towards the people behind the PC, but the char themselves.

This is true actually. My chars have their enemies and yes, they hate them, but I enjoy the RP with the person that is the enemy. (Tia Stormclaw hates Jared Nomak while I don't have problems with Commune and Lerdi (This was an example))
Edit: thisDerius here. Can someone put it properly as I messed up?

True! That's exactly what I've been doing while I was active. I roleplayed with those who enjoyed my company, stayed away from arguing and started learning to create content for the mod. My goal was to leave my contribution so that others may enjoy it - in this case, memories and ship models!
As someone who has stepped away from Disco multiple times, and now I infrequently surf the forums when I can/want to, the problem is even further than what has been brought up above.
Yes, the group that does complain a lot or say this community sucks, while their opinions have some merit, are probably burnt out themselves. To say that those who are saying the community sucks should make an effort to make it better is sadly not going to hold much sway to the majority of those speaking out in such a way - simply because if you get to the point where you do say the community sucks or what not, the motivation to do anything worthwhile like try to make it better is no longer there. I can speak from experience - I tried to do my part, whether as a staff member or player, but it definitely got to the point for me that it wasn't worth the time and effort to attempt to introduce a change, and it was/is time for me to move on. Sometimes you just are burnt out, and the last thing you want to do is put MORE effort into something that no longer holds the same appeal as it did in years past. Nothing wrong with that either.
I'd say instead of calling out to those saying the community sucks to make a difference, it needs to come from those who still find value in their efforts here. The ones who are willing to put forth the effort of trying to make it better. Many will fail, many won't see their efforts come to fruition, but some will get through. Some will be able to hopefully and ideally make an impression/lasting change. Again though, you need to find the people who aren't jaded or burnt out. Those are the last people you should try to appeal to.
Discovery very much relies on every player discarding their overall human nature and associated bad attributes (envy, competitiveness, just to name a few). This takes the form of having to do things which you would not do in other games or other circumstances. Not subscribing to this mindset generally means you cannot function as a member of the community because other members will work hard to discredit you, even if you propose alternative solutions to many problems faced by the community. Above all are admins who have access to all conversations, including those set in in-game PMs and they judge you based on the set of rules they themselves established, and have the power to remove you from the community if they so desire. Furthermore, to become one of the admins, you simply cannot be of a different mindset than they are because otherwise you will be discarded as "abrasive".
:thinking face emoji:
Yeah that didn't work too well in history, did it.
I doubt the admins are the problem. I think that some people don't even notice it themselves when they are dicks, though. Or they know it very well and profile that way. Being dicks for the sake of being dicks and posting memes for the sake of posting memes.

I mean in a way the staff are kind of part of the issue, because they themselves are a part of the community, and lately I've heard a lot of really disappointing things that I'm not at liberty to post about that have made me question the overall integrity of the team.
It isn't about having the same mindset though. It's about a mindset that fits with the community and not one individual's vision of it.
It was better when the admins were considered an authority. Following the rules was easier because sanctioning people for it was easier. The Heavy Decision has undermined the admins' reputation and authority. The admins need to make themselves great again.
Also, people need to stop avenging to each other. A quarrel between certain three players is polarizing this place and ripping it apart.
I want to put an end to trolls and shitty leaderships that influence this community. I want to bring back the high quality standard and diversity and the common sense of RP.
Yeah I want that. How do I do that ?
